a genius detail is in the time signature of a waltz, the first episode he says the step touch works with every song in 4/4 so it always works, but a waltz is in 3/4. a waltz throws him off because it’s not the 4/4 that he always dances in

The time signature is actually 6/8 since it's a faster, two triplet phrase rhythm. Also the dance itself would technically be Viennese waltz, not regular waltz. Interesting thought though.

The tempo has no bearing on the time signature :P It could be 6/8, or 3/4; they're fairly compatible Just like a song that sounds like it's in 4/4 could be in 2/4

One of the things I've loved so much about this is that it tells the story in a way that *only this medium can.* This wouldn't work as a stage musical. It wouldn't work as a musical movie or even TV series, but DAMN does it work as a series of instructional videos. The name of the series is Dances Moving, moving from Baltimore to New York, it is a metaphor about the consequences of the moving of BDG. In this episode, for example, it is the long distance relationship. And the dances are related, this dance it is for partners and David can’t do it so he feels loneliness.
