You are a unique individual. Not just an amazing mechanical engineer but also an amazing machinist and constructor. I have seen a few who approached what you accomplish but none any better. God has surely blessed you.

Thank you, but this engine shure have it's short comings and weaknesses. It's a prototype and I am an amateur. A happy one....

Please keep in mind many people don't believe in a god and statements like "god has blessed you" can come off as rude, imagine spending years learning to be an engineer, putting in all the work and then having people acting like "god" gave you those skills. God did nothing, this is the result of hard work, experience and passion
@RoseFBN Жыл бұрын
Sorry about the small wall of text, I'm just tired of people acting like the skills I've worked hard to learn are "given by god". I hear it far too often. Have a great day
@richardbenson4048 Жыл бұрын
@@RoseFBN If I offended you I apologize. I don't believe either that God is responsible for all that you have done. But I do believe he has given you all the basics to do all the amazing things I see. He put you on this planet but that's only my belief. Again what I have seen you do and accomplish has amazed me. And you alone did that.

New subscriber here from Oregon, I'm determined to find out also what might have occurred internally also! Hopefully it's something that can remedied easily. Thank you for sharing this brilliant machining marvel you've created. You should feel proud the mechanical monster sprung to life by your two hands and I'm quite confident you will find what slipped by in the build. Wishing the V-8 a speedy recovery 🔧⚒️😁 Blessings from Oregon 👍❤️🙏

cooling, cooling, cooling. you need some sort of fan shroud, to prevent overheating, and seizure.
@Desmouffe Жыл бұрын
I know, I know. Cooling was not the problem this time. When I tilted the tractor forward to remove the gearbox, the carburetor flooded and petrol ended up in the front cylinders.

Air cooled, need a cooling fan and shrouding on heads and cylinders ?

I would think that a belt probably isn't the best method. I know lawn mower engines aren't all that powerful, but there's also eight of them here, when belt-driven riding mowers of this size typically only have a slightly larger V2; belts will only handle so much before they slip, especially friction belts such as v-belts, timing belts (aka toothed belts) would fair better but you'd also need a fairly substantial tooth to prevent jumping teeth, plus belt stretch could be a concern, thus chain would probably be the best option. Something like an ATV transmission and a mini differential, mount the transmission on the underside of the frame and drive it via chain, and drive a mini differential off of that with either a chain or shaft depending on the transmission's output orientation. It'd at least be worth looking into after the engine is finished and tuned.

For cooling make a shroud out of sheet metal so that air is blown from the top down into the center and exits past the cooling fins left and right.
@Desmouffe Жыл бұрын
Yes, something like that.

The next video could be your channels breakthrough. Make the disassembly and diagnostic of your V8 its own video, and not part of the "Briggs & Stratton V8" series you've got going, but instead give it its own head-turning title. Imagine seeing the title "STUCK - Tear down of my V8 lawnmower engine" in your recommended. That will get peoples attention. Make sure to monetize it. Make juice when you are given lemons. :) Then return with "Briggs & Stratton V8 part 8", where you show the fix and repair of the engine, leading new viewers and subscribers from the tear down video to your neat B&S V8 project series. I look forward to see more of your skills and this project. Happy new year!

I was hoping like you and everyone else, to see it racing around.. Will the gearbox handle 3x input power/speed that it was not designed for? Hope all goes well.
@Desmouffe Жыл бұрын
I will have to be very careful. No burnouts. No wheelie try. But it will be interesting to feel the engine work a little more. As it was there was almost no load to the motor. But it will be no speed-monster. About 7 km/h in 5th gear will be 20 km/h when the hammer is down

Need to stack vbelt pulleys. Get about 6 and you won’t lose traction when it comes to the v8 getting the power to the ground. It’s what we use in the industry
