Just bought my 1st gun, a 525 made way back in 2011. It was this review that swayed me from the Miroku, that and the price and the adjustable comb. The silver pigeons were a good 1/4" too low in the comb for me. Used it for the first time yesterday, and used your other 525 vid to remove the ejectors when cleaning the gun. I couldn't believe the crud that was in the rebates in the back of them. Keep up the good work. You're right about the sound when it closes Jon, a reassuringly solid clunk. Could do with a review of (well) used .22 rim fires, a "what to look for" "best value for money", type thing, I got an FAC with my SGC :-)

Great Video! I recently fail in the river duck hunting any Citori wouldnt recock the barrels. I worked and worked on the gun but was unsure how to "FULLY" tear it down. This video walked me through everything and with a REALLY GOOD CLEANING the Browing Citori is back in action!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank You for your content!!

I bought my 525 (exact spec as this one) about the same time as you made this video, looks like I made a good choice. I've just had my first fault with it after 10-15,000 shots, the lower barrel firing pin became pitted and started having "fail to fire", got a new pin and spring (£28) fitted it myself, 40 minutes including giving it a good clean, job done!
@danielt.31522 жыл бұрын
Same exact situation here, after a ton of shells , many many I shoot year around clays skeet,trap , sporting clays and upland birds,doves etc. my firing pin became Pitts, failed to fire, just a tiny dent in shell primer. Took to gunsmith he replaced spring, firing pins and it was back in business

A good idea would be to show what you do from start to finish when someone brings in their gun for a regular service. I think people are put off taking their gun a for a service at all as they don’t know what happens and if it is even worth it. I have had my gun for two years now from brand new and would love to know if I should take it for a service but not knowing what goes on fills me with dread! Thanks!

Many years ago I was shooting International Skeet with a very good shooter. He had an early 325 that was brought in from Europe. His reason for going with that particular 325 was because on our side of the pond all 325's had the new at the time over bore barrels and he being someone that liked 32 inch barrels wanted something lighter. When he got the gun he sent the barrel set out to a shop and had the forcing cones lengthened and the bores taken out to .735 from .729 which changed the handling of the gun a fair amount to the better. Other Browning and Beretta guns by comparison were much more sluggish.

A little trick I always do when changing the very powerful ejector or mainsprings is to loosely tie a piece of cardboard or paper to the spring, then if it does fly across the workshop it doesn't bounce very far and is easy to find.

The 525 is my preferred out of the two, the who thing just feels better in the lover grades, The 725 is good in its higher end models, but they are big bucks! Personally the 525 sporter grade one or an older ultra xs trap would be my preference

My old citori white lightening does the same thing and so does 2 of my buddy's with citori as well ...my guess is it's the inertia block ...from what I've seen it's pretty common so just shoot the he'll out of it and don't worry bout it.

Johnny can you please tell me if there is a trigger spring in the 525? My trigger isn’t responding and will be taking it to a gun smith - however really interested to see what I’ve done!!! It has an adjustable trigger as it is a 525 sporter one. I was adjusting the length of pull when something yay happened and it stopped working! Kind regards
@tgsoutdoors2 жыл бұрын
The usual issue is that the trigger slides too far back and touches the trigger guard on pulling?
@chris106992 жыл бұрын
@@tgsoutdoors no it’s not that - the inertia block is actually loose and looks like there should be a spring in the trigger itself (not the trigger pull) - is this something you have seen before a spring in the actual adjustable trigger?

I could use some TGS help with my 525...having some misfires in the bottom barrel. The hammers are cocking but the trigger isn't biting for a few clicks every 3rd or 4th time I load...cycle the safety and it works...something to do with the inertia block? Replace safety spring thingy maybe? Trying to diy so I have it for the next shoot rather than leaving her with a gunsmith
@shanewilson68795 жыл бұрын
I have a 525 sporting that has run through 10's of thousands of rounds, and found my did the same thing. I adverted the problem, albeit, only a short time, by shooting the top barrel first. But, only helped temporarily. Then, I changed the Hammer Springs, AND firing pins. The original hammer spring was almost 1/4" shorter than the new one. When changed, there was definitely a more "positive" sound dry firing. On the range, issue went away.

I bought a brand new 525 5 months ago. Only used it twice due to Covid 19 restrictions. It has fired 250-300 cartridges. Eley, 28gr 7.5s. Both firing pins are already pitted, bottom one worse than top. I am very disappointed. I picked the 525 over the 686 because the 525 fits me better but the issues with browning/mirouku firing pins is still here is 2020. Dont know what to do with it.

@@colindavies754 100% pitted. Very common issue. I've since been in my clubs gun room and had a look at a few second hand Brownings. I'd say 75% of them had pitted pins.
