My Uncle told me when he was a kid about 7 yrs old his Uncle Jim Gililland brought Billy to the ranch and he stayed a few days with them which would have been about 1936 , my Uncle stated they took him to Nogales and dropped him off , a few months later they went back to Nogales to pick up some goats they bought and my uncle said his dad took them to the ice cream parlor and as they were going in they met Billy on the sidewalk , he stated that was the last to he saw him . Pat Garret chased my great uncle Jim and Oliver they had a shoot out with him and wound up on trial for murdering Fontain and his son Henry. Jim and Oliver were acquitted of the murders !

Whether Mr. Hailey is right or wrong, I firmly believe that his Word and Handshake are far more Firm than practically any 200 page "Written Contract" will ever be. What he's saying is what he Truly Believes Is The Truth, else he wouldn't dare say it, much less allow himself to be filmed saying something he didn't believe to be the Truth. I'll Never believe that J. Frank Dalton was Jesse James, but it's damned easy for me to give Far More Credit to the "Brushy Bill" Story.......Plain Old Common Sense dictates that A Charlatan Wouldn't have Old Gunshot Wounds that match the person they are pretending to be. One other thing....I have read all sorts of Supposed "Non Fiction" about Billy & Pat over the past 30 years, and have come to believe that Pat Garrett was a Dishonest, Opportunistic, Duplicitous and Scheming Shit Heel Of The First Order. I have a photo from that era. That really looks like Billy the kid. It has been largely overlooked. Garret did not kill Billy. They were like big casino and little casino. I think Garret had to cover up the killing. By claiming it was the Kid. They buried a Billy. Not the Billy. I have researched this. Like Bob Ford wanted the noteriety. Yet, this was not Billy. Only problem I have is, I don't know how to disclose it. And also the " providance" issue. I don't care about facial recognition. Brushy Bill was not the same man. The man has the exact very features of Billy. Yet it may be a different form. Not a tin-type , but the card form of photography. The same used from 1850s- 1890s. Anyway I may be holding a gold mine on my hands. He also used another alias. Oh it was called a cabinet card. Same ears , hair ,chin, nose. eyes
@dwightcurrie83162 жыл бұрын
I was an Antique Dealer for 20 years out in Oregon & came into possession of a Cabinet Card of "Deacon" Jim Miller (Pat Garrett's alleged Murderer) and 3 other men Hanged in a stable in ADA Oklahoma in 1908 for Horse Stealing, I think & made a good Whack when I sold it. If your card is actually BTK it is extremely valuable with Proper Provenance, but without good Provenance the value is drastically reduced, but hold onto it like Grim Death & if you can't prove it's Billy, it's enough that you're satisfied that it's him and see that it stays in your family. New "Methods" of analyzing photos and other photos have come to light in recent years, and in this day and age things are always being discovered, so you never know when or if your little Cabinet Card could set your family up quite nicely in the future..... As a Junker for 2 decades and a Old West History Buff for almost all of my 72 years, I'd naturally Love to lay eyes on it, just so I could say I'd seen it & make my own Semi educated guess. Best of luck with your "Find" & teach your kids to know and appreciate what it is and what it Might Be one day

What happens if there is clear evidence, DNA, that Brushy is not BTK?
@brushybret Жыл бұрын
We actually tried to do this a few years ago, but the powers that be in New Mexico fought it every step of the way by filing frivolous lawsuits and legal motions. The plan was to exhume Roberts, John Miller, Catherine Antrim, and the body buried in Ft. Sumner and let DNA settle it once and for all. This is all detailed in Steve Sederwall's book, The Dirty on Billy the Kid, as well as History Investigates: Billy the Kid Cold Case by W. C. Jameson.

The photograph that the gentleman who promotes this theory regarding the ears used a manipulated image of the Kid. The image was "retouched" by Noah Rose, as the original was so damaged that large portions of it were no longer visible. I did a video on this, which includes source citations by two of the leading authorities on western photographs, as well as statements by John Meigs of the Lincoln County Heritage Trust. The video also includes a facial recognition study conducted by the University of Texas - Austin, which concluded Roberts and the Kid were a statistical match. The study was conducted by 2 PhD scientist who used an internationally recognized facial recognition program, whose methods were peer-reviewed in two scientific journals and were further confirmed by two independent arbiters, who were completely impartial. Not true!... If you were familiar with how they do facial recognition, you would know that at certain angles change a person's appearance. Go look at a bunch of pictures of someone at different angles and you will see what I mean. The tintype is so badly weathered and aged that it's impossible to see any true definition. Go look at pictures of Brushy as a kid and as a young man. It's scary how much he resembles Billy.

As far as the ears go, the person that promotes the ear theory is using a manipulated photograph. This is all detailed in John Meigs report to the Lincoln County Heritage Trust in the late 1980s and has been discussed by acclaimed western photograph historian, Robert McCubbin. In the original tintype, the image was so deteriorated from not being stored properly that parts of the image were no longer visible, like the ears. The image was restored by a man by the name of Noah Rose. I discuss this in my video on physical similarities between Roberts and the Kid and discuss the facial recognition study conducted by two PhD scientists at the University of Texas-Austin which concluded that Roberts and the man in the tintype were a statistical match. The study used an internationally recognized facial recognition program. The same system used by law enforcement agencies all over the world. Furthermore, the methods used were peer-reviewed and published in two separate scientific papers and the results were confirmed by two independent arbiters.
