I went to an event tonight where I knew a few people and didn’t know a lot of people. I dressed in all black, listened to some awesome music driving to the event and remembered to look at the color of people’s eyes! I love it!! And I made myself walk up to a couple of strangers and struck up conversation! It was awesome!

Confidence Booster #13 is a real hidden gem! It's so easy to go through life not actually KNOWING ourselves, what we believe and what our principles are. I can attest to the fact that knowing what our principles are is both an instant confidence boost, AND a great way to evaluate whether all manner of things (from business deals, to friendships, and more!) are RIGHT for us!

Also, I'm taking the challenge to give compliments to strangers! I'll report back if anything unusual or funny goes down! :-D

"Confidence leads to action and action leads to success" I love it! The thing with confidence for me is that a lot of times I've mistaken real confidence with arrogance. I've been having this problem at my 9-5 job that people there are thorougly pissed off by how confident I sometimes am and I've been informed that sometimes I sound arrogant. I rarely brag about my work and I avoid speaking about things I don't know like the plague. I will use this compliments that you said to try to appear less arrogant but I am really at a loss right now .

Great tips Derek and I think I've tried them all at some point in my life! (massive introvert right here) 1. Is it not FREE today? One I use in my “Day Job”. Sorry, we only spin (your winning number) on Mondays! (or whatever day). Yeah, my day job as a casino dealer! 3. Confidence Booster! A huge one for me. I’ve been using this one for years. I like to call it the “Wonder Woman” stance. And yes, it does work…. I am a massive introvert and this has definitely worked for me. It's all about mindset. 5. Listen To Some Music Definitely works for me! Foo Fighters or Pink :) Throw on a Foo Fighters or Pink song and I am a totally different person :D 6. Look Your Best Black is the colour of confidence. I have only ever worn black for the past … err .. 20 ish years… Works for me :) (I can still hid in the background if I feel the need) Love your vids :D

Every time you walk through a door frame square your shoulders and ensure your chest is forward. That way even if your shoulders begin to slump over you will be squared up as soon as you walk through the next door. It keeps you in a more confident (and thus not in a defeated) body posture. During the Olympics you will hear many reporters ask the Gold Medal athletes if they were nervous before or during the event. And they will invariably respond, No; they were excited. If asked how they felt they will say they had sweaty hands, elevated heart rate, butterflies in the stomach, increased awareness.. But what are the symptoms of fear? Sweaty hands, elevated heart rate, butterflies in the stomach, increased awareness.. Essentially you get to choose. Are you afraid or excited?

Channelling someone else's confidence is a fantastic idea. I've never come across that advice before. I'll try it out next time I have to do some kind of public speaking. Thanks for another great video filled with practical advice Derek.

I think you are at your best when you are educating. I like your confidence tips, they are all great. As a Hypnotherapist helping people with confidence issues on a regular basis I would add that for many people they need to look at the limiting thoughts and beliefs they need to remove, before they can 'put in' the great suggestions you have given. This is because there are often events that have eroded confidence.

Don't humble brag 🤣😂🤣😂 This is quite an in depth study in confidence! I tried the tighten stomach muscles move. I also like the t-shirt idea (albeit my messages would be somewhat different than yours 😀🌼) I learned to receive and give compliments years ago from my parents - great advice

Blogging has made me more confident by learning about stuff an becoming somewhat of an expert. Expert is closely related to confidence. I clearly remember the time when I started to believe I am an expert... I realized I know a lot more than 95 percent of the people, and I just need to pick my audience correctly. Just don't compare myself to Derek Halpern, compare myself to the newbies.

It's interesting to me that you hit the one aspect I judge people by over all others: Are they afraid to be wrong. It's one thing to dislike being wrong, strive for perfection (or "Excellence" or whatever feel good, do awesome buzz word some motivational talking head might throw in here) - BUT - if someone goes into a day ruining spiral of self defeat over a mistake, they pretty quickly get tossed out of my life. PS - Man, did you keep drip teasing the gap in this one. 🤣

Tightening your stomach all the time might make you feel straighter but it’s also making you weaker and pushing your organs down and out. Yuck!! Learning to hang around and back that weight up into your heels will set you up straight no weak abs or sneeze pee side effects.
