It's good being able to buy a belt kit off the shelf. I remember sorting through piles of pulleys at the breakers trying to find one to fit a Burman clutch basket and turning out the inside only to find it wouldn't fit anyway. Got it right eventually, but never found out which car the pulley came from.

Good video but why didn't you put the final drive chain on first, put the bike in top gear then use the rear brake to hold everything still when you tightened up the sprocket nut?

Do you mean the clutch centre nut or the sprocket nut? Either way, I can't remember now but I don't think I had the chain at the time and an impact driver works just as well on the clutch centre...

Is this the bike with the Norton Transmission?

No, the gearbox is BSA, the belt drive+clutch is from Newby Racing

I thought there were issues with the belt drives and the BSA units?

I have three BSAs with this arrangement and not had any problems. They are used extensively in racing too.

@@motorbikewhisperer for the B50 do you have to do anything to the shafts to get them to work with Bob Newby belt drives? Or are they a straight fit bolt on solution? And which model do you buy? Nobody seems to advertise B50 belt drives. I think I read that there were alignment problems with the two pulleys and that cause wear/damage to the belts whereas chains with links flex a bit more and can handle being slightly misaligned.

does the front buffer system work well with the belt drive mechanism??

@@unniskrishnan4237 I didn't use the shock absorber (spring) mechanism. The front pulley is directly driven by the splines without any buffer. I don't think it's needed with a belt drive.
