Nice job on the flange! 👍🏻 looks like the ol’ mini lathe was chattering away when you faced that o-ring groove into it where it bolts up. Have you looked at the KZbinrs with mini lathes and the mods they do to increase rigidity? Seen several talk about how they are pretty notorious for chatter when parting off or using grooving tools, given their inherent flex. Some eliminate the compound slide all together and build solid tool posts to help increase rigidity. Another is to flip the cutter upside down and reverse the spindle rotation.

Yeah. It needs attention. I tend to spend my time wrapped up in the scoots and trying to get vids together so other stuff gets neglected. Then I need the lathe and wish I had done it, but just get whatever it is done and say I'll do it later.

I did make the journey into 2t stuff though. Bought a beat up Zuma prebug. Athena sport kit and an Athena crank came in yesterday. People seem to say the Athena stuff is good stuff, I mainly bought it cause Parts Unlimited sells it and we r dealers for em so got it barely over $100 each👍🏻

I've got a question I'd like to have your opinion before I start taking my scoot apart again. I've got a 2009 TaoTao vip future champion 50cc scooter that's been sitting for 5/6 years they had lost the keys. So I took the switch apart and manually turned the switch on. I drained the gas tank refilled with 93 octane fuel it wasn't getting fuel to the carb because the fuel pump wasn't working so I ran the hose straight from the tank to the carb hooked up jumper cables it spun over a few rounds and fired up and ran great. It would idol perfect. I aired the tires up and rode it around for several hours within a 1/8 mile of home incase it broke down. As long as it was running you couldn't ask for it too run any better once you shut it off. It was dead because the battery was bad. So I'd boost it off and ride it around for a few days until I got my confidence up too take it out on the road. No problems So I boost it off and hit the road it would run 32mph kinda flat and I'm 300lbs it had a little stumble up top i figured it was because the fuel pump wasn't hooked up just gravity feeding. I hit a big hill noticed some belt slip Rpms going up scoot slowing down so I back off of it and let it just take its time I go 3 miles too McDonald's sitting in the drive-thru 20 mins plus with it running I could smell belt. I leave McDonald's and it would barely even pull its self im trying too limp it home I make it 1/4 mile and the belt shreads and just free Revs. So I'm pushing it home with it running so I have lights. I make it about a mile and stop and eat my Chicken Nuggets sitting on the scoot Gsp pulls up behind me asking what I'm doing its now about 1AM . Long story short while he's running everything making sure its not stolen because no keys and pushing it. It died on me while taking to him it had been running around 2.1/2 hours the dash lights and taillight stayed on for a few minutes before the battery died. I finally get it pushed home I ordered a new Battery.New ignition switch with keys. A belt. I get everything installed and try and start it( No fire) I ordered a stator. Installed it still no fire. Ordered a Cdi box and coil now it starts pouring gas out of the carburetor. I pull the carburetor clean it drill out the plug for the air bleed turn it out 2 turns . Now it want idol it want run unless its half throttle on the stand it will Rev wide open will not idol or pull its self take it off the middle stand its dead I've had the carburetor off a hundred times blowing out the jets now im wondering if I got a bad CDI box or Stator has the timing retarded Either order a new carburetor because it's not getting enough fuel or ive got bad part's I'm really starting too hate this scooter. Sorry for the long post just trying to give every detail I know a0nd and I Subscribed to the channel you have the best videos I've seen

Sorry I'm so late. Your comment was automatically flagged so I didn't see it till now. If the issue is throttle position dependent, then start with trying to sort the carburetor. Something is off there. Perhaps the float height is too high and over-fueling at low engine speeds/throttle positions. Maybe something went awry when drilling the air screw out? Look those bits over carefully just to be sure.

Looks like your O-ring tool chattered a little? Adapter looks damn good. Curious to see part two. Really like these shorter segments for KZbin digestion.
@49ccscoot
@49ccscoot Жыл бұрын
Everything chatters. The whole lathe needs to come apart. I think there may be a bearing issue in the spindle because the chuck actually has 0.0005" runout and there's a ticking noise sometimes. Play in the carriage. I think the Chinese lathe worked well new, but it's wearing or something is going on. I can't adjust the carriage not to have flex without it not wanting to move at this point.

kind regards. thanks for your videos. I have purchased a 70cc air cooled Malossi Sport cylinder. I have a Tecnigas Triops exhaust for 70cc and the exhaust outlet hole of the cylinder is smaller than that of the exhaust by about three millimeters. What I can do I will thank you very much for your help. Muy byke its a gilera runner.

You can blend it. Just remember that you can't put material back very easily, so if you think you'll be swapping pipes around with that cylinder then I'd just leave it.

Hi Brent, do you have any experience with so called "D shaped" exhaust port. I've seen that topic being thrown around the internet for being superior compared to oval and O shaped exhaust port. Any chance you have any test or info on this matter? Thanks in advance.
@49ccscoot

I've tested a 49cc, going from D-port to round and matched to exhaust. It made no discernible difference in that instance.

@@49ccscoot I see, do you have any clue why it got quite popular? And it seems like they were use in top eng sports bike? Thats for the answer too, might just save me from the trouble of unnecessarily porting my engine.
@49ccscoot
@49ccscoot Жыл бұрын
@@SeamTressGaming There can be more flow in certain areas of the port, depending how everything is designed. A D or oval port could maintain some velocity with a smaller port rather than opening up the area where flow isn't good with a big circular port. If you look into porting, you'll see that the people that are very good at it use a flowbench and flowballs and can sort of see what's happening to flow in different areas. Then sometimes they'll fill parts of the port and/or modify only certain areas. It's common to raise the roof and often leave the floor or fill it, so you could imagine how a D shape may be beneficial.

This is the exhaust diameter for a 600+cc cylinder. Your 94cc engine will have no power at low revs. The exhaust gas flow velocity will be too low with such an oversized exhaust.
@Lucaldixon
@Lucaldixon Жыл бұрын
It is normal for scooter above 90cc to have huge exhaust diameters.. unfortunately without power valve, peak power is always on high rpm (consider that malossi "testa rossa" 94cc max torque range is around 13.5k rpm)
