When it comes to cats and bladder stones it's an indicator they're not drinking enough water. Give Pablo wet food instead of dried and it should help with that because of the higher moisture content.
@UpsideZown2 жыл бұрын
Another good thing to mention is wet food is the healthier option in the long run. Dry food is pretty high in calories.

He may have to anyways. Something similar happened with a kitty I had before. He had to eat special, ash free, food for the rest of his life
@Annie_Annie__2 жыл бұрын
Something to keep in mind, though, is that the barn cats kill and eat a lot of rodent prey. Outdoor and wild cats get a lot of moisture from prey they eat. They also burn off the calories of dry food with their active lifestyle. I’d think it might be worth it to have the barn cats on a mix of wet and dry food. That way they get moisture plus the extra calories. But while Pablo is recovering, it probably would be good to give him the wet kidney care (or urinary care? I forget which he’s on.) prescription wet food.
@Kryse132 жыл бұрын
Dry food is good to help their teeth, so you can sprinkle some in for tooth health :). (Edit: this was told to me by my vet when we were talking about cat nutrition. I am just relaying the information and yes they were indoor/oudoor cats.)
@KlutzyNinjaKitty2 жыл бұрын
Normally my go-to answer is to get a cat drinking fountain (my cats drink so much more water now! They prefer moving water sources as opposed to stagnant) but I don't know how helpful that'd be for mostly-outdoor barn cats... Though, maybe there's a way to make a cat drinking fountain without power hooked up to it. Considering how fountains have existed long before we started using electricity. Maybe you could make something like one of those Japanese deer-scares just minus the noise part?

Don't beat yourself up over the fencing Morgan, we all make mistakes. I think it's worth considering the bigger scope of why that happened. It's not that you're lazy, it's because you don't really have great access to that space during the winter so you are tempted to take shortcuts like that. You mentioned recently when visiting another homestead that you loved the order and planning that went into the layout and you wanted more of that for your farm, that's a great 2022 goal. Maybe take the time over the summer to build some more permanent infrastructure with easy year round tractor access. Now that you're been on the land for a few years and know how you use it you can probably come up with a better layout than the one that sprung up over the years.

Most animals aren't bothered when they're climatised. It's pet animals that have trouble because we lock them up in the house thinking it's too cold outside for them and they in turn climatise to the indoor heat and struggle to cope outside.
@suestoons2 жыл бұрын
We're in Canada and have had outside farm cats since we moved here twenty-six years ago. They always have heated housing options but I've been surprised how active they are in the cold weather. We've also experimented with and built at least one sunroom per year. Just a large window propped up on the south side of the barn. There is a fabric backdrop and a straw floor. The cats can sit in the sun and watch the farm during the coldest of days. The outside cats do put on a little winter weight in the fall and they grow a thicker coat. We had to move one barn cat to an indoor cat due to illness once. She moved inside in January and never lost her winter bulk or coat.

In the show, Mr. Douglas, a New York lawyer, buys a farm without any prior farming experience. Despite his gross incompetence and the resulting mishaps, he still perseveres and calls himself a farmer while the neighboring real farmers roll their eyes and shake their heads. Very funny show and remarkably similar to Morgan's situation.

@dairyfarmer7262 жыл бұрын
@@aprilbattern8248 Apparently you are not aware of the sentiment in the professional herdsman community regarding his lack of care for his cattle. If you watch Morgan's own KZbin video entitled "Greg Judy Told Me Not To Do This" dated Mar 1, 2021, you will see the advice he received from cattle experts regarding what breed to purchase and that they should be socialized from an early age so they can easily be handled. Also, read through the comments to see what advice we gave Morgan. So what did he do? He bought adult untouchable cattle with dangerous horns. The breed that he chose is also not in demand as it is far too lean in meat. Most transport companies will not shuttle cattle with horns, as it is too much of a liability. Anyway, because his cattle are untouchable they cannot be inspected for health issues whatsoever. By now they are very likely infested with winter lice and are full of parasites. They may also have hoof issues such as rot because they have not had any hoof maintenance. The bottom line is that we herdsmen and dairymen really hate when someone does not take good care of their animals, especially since we gave Morgan lots of genuine helpful advice because we wanted him to succeed. We have recently concluded that he is more interested in using the cattle as a KZbin prop rather than be concerned with their welfare.

Cannot wait to go up north to my sisters who has close to Forty Acres and she is saying that I can have a puppy up there and I really wanting to have a dog like Toby. Maybe in the next couple of years by then maybe y'all will be selling puppies?? Hoping and crossing my fingers!. I love Jenny the barn cat because she is just so stinking cute and you just cannot train personality... And other words the animals have the personalities they have because of who they are. I have a dog who is partia to and he is 15 years old and one of his favorite things is stealing... Not a good quality LOL however it is rather hilarious. And he doesn't care if it's an envelope or a dollar bill or your socks or your T-shirt LOL but he will steal them and bring them to his bed but he never damages anything he will use everything he steals as a pillow. I must have a collage of pictures with this dog of the different items he's not only stolen but has conveniently made into a pillow to rest his head on LOL too funny animals are great! By the way my favorite duck are the black and white ducks but the one that has a little bit more white on his head is that a mix or is that a breed??

You'll be glad of it when she gets a few months older and keeps trying to jump over the fence. She'll eventually work it out, but it'll take longer.
