Today's vlog we are building a bushcraft camping shelter with our tarp and hammock and setting up a fire for cooking in the woods. I plan on using this camp set up continually for hunting and fishing on my hunting lease.

Out of all the Googans, you are perhaps the one person I'd love to spend a couple days hanging out with hunting, fishing, and camping with just to experience it along side you. I can just relate. Your content is awesome to watch.

I'd build a little box out of plywood, and 2x4s to go over the bed of the meat wagon long enough to sleep in, and sit up in, camo paint it, insulate it with foam board, and maybe install one of those mini wood stoves. Now that would be a cool setup.

Pro tip haha!! On your truckers hitch run the tag end through you main line loop a second time then pull to tighten the ridge line. This will help where you don't have to pinch to put your half hitch in, it will hold itself and then you can put a locking half hitch in to keep it from slipping. Makes it a little easier so you don't loose tension in your line. Thanks for all your videos!!!

Life is a learning experience. You need three points of support for the hanging grate, two on one end, on the corners and one in the middle on the opposite end. This will keep it level and not as tippy. Also don't use your snares for the support wires. Use some 14 gauge wire, like bailing wire and twist it back on itself. Another option is to use some larger rocks, set in place BEFORE making the fire, to support the grate. Again, attach three wires to the grate, two on the corners and one on the opposite end in the middle. You can use these wires to move the grate to and from the rock supports. Make the wires long enough to have them well away from the flames. Lots of wire around old fence lines. Personally, I would use a shorter handle on the axe. Less unwieldly and in your country, you are not likely to need to cut down trees of any size. Did enjoy the video and got a chuckle of your dinner hitting the ashes.

Who else had an adrenalin jump at 39:02 when the chicken hit the fire? Maybe drop the toggle and clip the carabiner to the paracord loop holding the grate? Add a third point of support to better stabilize the grate. An excellent first shot at bushcrafting

Pro tip: use a bright color cordage for your tarp connections to the ground so you don’t hit or trip over them in the darker times of morning, evening and middle of the night. Hunter’s Orange is good to go. Also a very thin yoga mat or bivy bag for your sleeping back to lay on will greatly reduce convection and help you sleep better. You don’t have to close the bivy just get it snug around your bag base. Yoga mat I mean like 1/8 of and inch thick or less even. Super flexible and will act as a wind break because your compressing all of the insulation in your bag on the bottoms and the wind coming across underneath is going to draw heat away from you. Or you could go under quilt if it’s really getting cold out.

I was a Scout leader for 19 yours and we did a lot of these things if you support your grill from the 4 corners then up to a ring tied to your cord it will stabilize it and won't flip things off as easy if you can find a flat kinda thin rock makes a good grill after you finish cooking you move it to the side to keep the coffee warm and rub Ivory soap on the bottom of your pot it will make cleaning off the soot off the pot Irish Spring will not work {lesson learned} / Put a larks head knot on your line from the tree to the hammock under your tarp andbefore the hammock it will stop the rain from dripping on you in the rain

Look into hanging your hammock with 4 rappel rings and 2 carabiners. Its pretty sweet! It's SUPER fast and keeps your hammock rope tight so you don't sag. No knots needed. Less likely to end up with your feet above your head while you're sleeping. Won't feel great in the morning. Ps: Take it from this Upstate New Yorker, when things get cold in a hammock, your going to want an under quilt.
