Mr. Jere, I'm just glad to see you're back on and making more videos these days... Sadly, KZbin's too greedy and decided to take the majority of the ad revenue for themselves while quadrupling the ads seen. Every 4 minutes, there's an ad; however, the channel doesn't see one complete cent from these invasive ads.

I took a picture of this bead roller last time I was in Gene's shop and I have since planned on doing a bunch of upgrades to my similar roller based on that picture. It's Great to come across this video and have all the guesswork taken out of the project. Thanks a ton Jere, great work!

Thanks Kevin. Even using half hard material I would drill and tap and use the spreader block to increase rigidity and have a place to mount a fence. If you are doing repetitive work the quick clamp speeds up work a bunch. Thanks Jere

The rest came as I became familiar with the machine and wanted it to do more. Thanks for watching. Be sure to subscribe and ring the bell. Jere

Sir, Thanks for the information. Only thing is it is very expensive for me to get down a machine from Europe or USA since I am from Sri Lanka. So I am going to build one for myself just to use in my workshop. Therefore I am learning how to build one from experts like you. If I could have drawings of your machine as you have mentioned, it will be a great help to me. Thank you. Brgds. Kusman

There are sections with all the sources of material and hardware. Also included is a DVD that walks you through each page giving tips and what to watch out for during the build. Call me at 1-707-459-2523 and I will help you with what ever you need. Jere

Hi David. You can make all the modifications to any plate type bead roller. The only variation will be the amount the top shaft will move. That is determined by the width of the gears. I think Chip Foose was bowling that day. Jere

Hello Tom. Not all mods need to be done at the same time. After stiffening the frame, and fabricating some sort of mounting base, the most use full mod would be making the top shaft movable. Being able to align dies saves a lot of time when setting up the machine. It also allows you to make a different profile using the same dies. Thanks for watching. Jere

nice design but the motor you chose is bulky and in the way by the looks of it. expensive as well. why not use a gear reduction motor? I am using a 1/8th hp gear reduction 8 rpm on mine and it is more compact and looks better in my opinion. your work is very nice and some good ideas there. the one thing I see that I wouldn't do is the quick release. if doing a piece of 16gauge I find it difficult to believe that you can go from one bead to the next with the quick release without screwing the block down to get the depth in the bead. but hey if it works for you that is all that matters. great video too lots of info. thankyou.
@jerekirkpatrick2092
@jerekirkpatrick2092 9 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comments Gary. I like getting feedback. Does your gear motor have forward and reverse and variable speed? On my original build I used what I had in my shop which was a reduction box and my drill motor. It is not in the way of the slot in the bead roller. The drill I got for Genes machine was $75.00 from Crags List. The bell crank is a 2 to 1 increase of the movement of the quick clamp. If it were too hard to pull the handle down you could unscrew the "T" handle one or two turns reengage and then turn one or two down saving the time to unscrew completely. Please send me a photo of your setup. I like seeing the ways of doing things. jere@saber.net. Jere

+Todd Switzer I bought most of the parts from McMaster Carr and the reduction box from Surplus Center. The total was a little over $200.00. Plus the cost of the drill motor which can be purchased from Craigslist. My plans are $40.00 in the US. Jere
