You guys are doing some very solid work. Just a question you used all PT lumber for the sills and sill sealer to prevent water from wicking in except for the kings and jack for the garage door, its the wood closest to the dirt and more likely to get wet than any other??

This was an oversight with our lumber order so we ended up just using the boards we had.

I guess lumber prices arent up 50% where youre at? Why the double king studs? And double window sills?

The framing was done back at the beginning of the pandemic in April 2020. Lumber prices hadn’t spiked yet. We got lucky with our timing. We did Double king and sills at the advice of my brother in law. Not a pro so I do not have an exact answer. Maybe a building practice here in the northeast?

Extra assurance if that wall is load baring for the trusses. But if you have the lumber and you want to make sure its solid then I guess why not. But not really required. Its more or less a preference per builder really.

What’s the point of the glue on the sill seal?

It’s called PL Premium. This was a recommendation from our brother in law who is a builder - it’s an added level of protection from bugs entering the building.

@@PalsProjects I knew it was PL, just wondering why it was used on your sill seal. I’m a builder as well, and I’ve never seen that done before. I watch others videos, because you can learn something new everyday. Are you building in an area that has a bug problem?

Not a notable bug problem... I guess maybe just a added level of protection at the top of the foundation walls. Cheap insurance.
