@Wahl_and_Case9 ай бұрын
Hello! I have been thinking about this question since I first saw your comment and I sill don't have a good answer. My first instinct based on my time working roles like these would be to start as Business Development Representative (BDR) any where you can. It will be a sales heavy role, but it will give you experience in talking with executives and cold outreach. While you are working these roles try to build as deep of a network as you can. This is part of the job of a BDR, but if you do it well, you will be able to build your whole career off of the network. When I was recruiting for this position with a major tech player looking to connect with telco's, this was their 1 requirement. A network of high level executives in telco. So build your connections and prove that you have the charisma to persuade executives. It will be a journey, but I hope this helps! - bryan P.S. I have reached out to Fuminori, who I mentioned in the video, he was working as a BDM for Softbank in Japan. I hope he will have some insight as well.

How you frame your experience will play the biggest role in getting your future position. You can use your knowledge of the backend to connect with your technical clients in a way that other sales folks cannot. If you are looking for a position that can bridge technical and sales, I would recommend a Presales engineer. Awesome Mam I have an Interview in a Few days for the role of BDM. And this video could help me a lot for a better understanding abou that position❤. Kindly could you guide me on that How I can prepare for an interview of Business Development Manager role.
@Wahl_and_Case Жыл бұрын
Thank you and best of luck on your interview! I would say the focus of your prep should be on a few specific skills, company interest, and how you will present your answers. Let's go over how to present your answers first so that when you are gathering the info for the skills you can be thinking of it in this framework. STAR Interview Method: S = Situation, the problem your company or customer was facing (i.e. our sales were down) T = Task, the things you were assigned to do (i.e. I needed to close at least 5 deals) A = Action, the way you went about completing your tasks (i.e. I sent out 50 cold email, setup 20 meetings, and I was able to close 5 deals by getting to know the real challenges our customers were facing and how our system could help them) R = Results, what were the results of your actions (i.e. because of the 5 deals I closed, our revenue was at a record for the past 5 years and I am better able to help our customers that I meet with now) 1. Sales Results - how do you approach sales and how were you able to achieve those results? Make sure to frame it with your goal being to help your customers. 2. Cold outreach - you need to show that you have the ability to message, call, email, or speak with people that you have had no prior contact with. 3. Creativity - you need to show that you are able to look for opportunities in places that other people may not expect and are able to drive business results that other people would overlook. The other thing you need to show is company and industry knowledge, be sure to spend time getting to know the company you are interviewing with. Start on their website, then go through each of their social channels to get not only an understanding of what they do and their culture, but also write down as many questions as you can that you want to ask your interviewer if they have time. Additionally, if you can show that you have a network that you can call upon in the industry you are going to be working in, it will also give you a head start. This will show them that you care about their business and are interested in them as a company and you are not just looking for a job. Those are the the best tips I could come up with off the top of my head, I hope they help! -bryan

A BDM is an absolute waste of time and space. Most will do the most minimal jobs possible or delegate to (Apparent) lower roles. Waste of flow and no income generation they can provide. If you have one at your work.. They are explaining the obvious to get paid what? IMO get rid of the role give the hard workings a pay rise and forget you even thought about it..
@joecool48437 ай бұрын
While I do see where you might be coming from. I assume you say this coming from personal experience where your BDM wasn’t pulling their weight and not providing/or trying to provide unique insights or values that justified their job. Is there any reason in particular that made you feel like this role isn’t justified? Do you think the job is useless or do you feel like you had conflicting roles in your organization? I felt like it was pretty straightforward. Identifying potential clients/partners Business or client relationship maintenance Going through the sales process Analyzing market data and trends Setting growth goals And I could list more but you obviously watched the video. I’m just asking out of curiosity, I don’t really have work experience and I just want to learn more about the business world.
@sledgehammer62397 ай бұрын
Yes. Coming from Experience. Multiple Businesses I have worked for retain a certain and similar culture. It all of course depends on the Director Chief (Boss) of course. If they tolerate Failure and Excuses staring at a blank wall.. All points you mentioned are basic in terms of what any Sales Team/Parts Team/Service Team/Transit Team should be driven and aligned to do. (Hopefully by contract) It does depend how big or small the business is, That is what a BDM would say. Yes. In my Opinion organizations have worked out paying for a role they never needed, BDM never has an opportunity to over rule what a "Boss" Should be watching and acting upon themselves. BDM bring measurements of achievement no matter how high or low blanket to the workers currently doing it and achieving it or not achieving it.. The Bottom line matters to the boss.. Only in my opinion.. BDM means to me. crazy, lazy, loose boss.

You are not wrong! Though their title is Inside Sales Representative (ISR), Sales Development Representative (SDR), or Business Development Representative (BDR). Because this is a B2B sales position, they will be cold calling other businesses. So if you are answering your work phone and they are trying to sell you a subscription, especially as software as a service one, yes! You are talking with a business development person. Hope this helps! -bryan

Useless, but there you go, you got the user interaction you asked for like 4-5 time instead of focusing on bringing content 😅

Hi Lars, Thanks for your comment, I agree that we over did it with the CTAs in this one. Check out our other videos to see if we improved ;) (kidding) I really do appreciate the feedback. Thanks again Lars! -bryan
