Right. Kimchi by default contains fish sauce and garlic (among other things). But Buddhist monks make kimchi without these because of their dietary restriction though. I generally don't like strong garlic flavors but somehow I don't notice it as much in kimchi even when I know it contains it. I don't know why though.

Crazy since we are Dominicans and we don’t really eat spicy. But there’s something about Korean food that’s so addicting, and it just so happened to Be the kimchi 😍

Maria C sorry for the late reply. Honestly I believe there is no Dominican dish that can be compared to Kimchi. Since we don’t really eat spicy or fermented foods you just have to take a leap of faith and try it for yourself. That’s how I did it. There are different types of Kimchi too. My personal fave is radish kimchi since it’s crunchier than cabbage
