there a lot of worse things i didn’t even bring up. like WHY is carls age never consistent. for the most part everyone else is. but he is said to be 8 or 9 in the pilot and then in S5 they said he’s 12 or 13 when he’s definitely only 11 at the oldest. also, the way he’s a drug dealer at 11 is crazy. in S6 when he should be 12, he’s freshly out of juvie and like getting laid with his girlfriend. it’s bonkers how backwards it is. they should’ve made an effort to give us proper time jumps to compensate for the season 4 timeline fuck up

shows like these are why I’m so glad this sort of video essay recapping exists, shameless is a show I’ve always been intrigued by but knew would be triggering (like euphoria). As a child super fan of shows like skins, as an adult I love being able to engage with media and understand it while not personally having to sort through possibly triggering art myself. I don’t personally agree with the notion that sexual violence has no place in media at all, but I appreciate things being vetted in forms like these video essays for those wanting to avoid it!

Honestly I agree with some of ur opinion on mickey and Ian at the same time I can’t help but love them. The amount of sacrifices and acts of love that mickey does for Ian and the true passion and chemistry they have with each other on screen make them such a captivating couple to watch. And the fact that they are both willing to do whatever it takes to make each other happy, . Still they are so toxic and aggressive sometimes which I think is what gives them such a thrill with each other but is also a bit hard to watch

I think it’s the actors that do it for me. Like you can see the hurt in Mickey’s eyes when he’s loosing the guy he loves to BPD, how much he wants him to get help, how he can’t be the one to help him. Them getting married saved the last season of shameless. After Fiona leaves it’s hard to watch

i liked the pregnancy storyline. people are too hard on debbie way too often. like that’s a 15 year old with no real parent around. ofc she’s going to make mistakes.
@jasmineindoors12 күн бұрын
I have to agree I will never forgive the writers for the character assassination of Debbie. I really like her being the heart of the Gallagher family. Yes, she grows up in a disfunctional house, but she saw the best in everyone, and cares for her siblings. Turning her into another story about a South Side girl who got pregnant too young and “trapped” was deeply disappointing and I think there were other ways to make her character interesting
@silver863212 күн бұрын
@@cainvarner I just find a storyline about a 14 year old getting pregnant on purpose to "trap" someone in a relationship deeply misogynistic and fell a lot in line with what you kept saying in the vid about kids being treated like adults with real power in a relationship, not to mention playing into a gross stereotype of women. That said I appreciated your shout out to the actress who plays her because the actress did a fantastic job playing the character and giving her life! She made me feel frustrated and angry with the character and that's a real testament to her talent when I've only seen clips from your masterpieces lol. Everyone in this show is messy, but by god learning about that heinous pregnancy plotline has prevented me from ever watching this show because I just can't ☠️☠️☠️

I have never noticed the timelines being so off but have noticed the ages being so off. Like youre telling me Carl goes to military school at only 13/14 and was a high running drug dealer at 11/12 something aint adding up here. Season 7 Fiona discourse is so interesting to me cause I can truly see both sides. On one hand I adore her putting herself first and doing something for her however, she is still Debbie, Carl, and Liam's legal guardian and I think it's pretty unfair to do that to them when you signed up for that role (this doesn't include not watching Frannie btw debbie knew what she was getting into with that one). IDK there were some scenes I was like yes fiona girl boss and others I was like fiona girl you signed up for this in season 3. As always tho the acting is so good from top to bottom and I can confidently say that never changes even as the seasons get worse so gotta hand it to the cast for that one
