Campervan. Oil Check. Diesel Heater. Air Intake Upgrade. On My Mazda Bongo.

Campervan oil level Check. It's not easy on a Mazda Bongo. Upgrading the air intake on the Diesel Heater so it recycles air from passengers floor well rather than engine compartment.

Man, that's just a "whole lotta work" to get to the engine. Still, I love that Bongo.

The drivers side is the same. That's where air filter, fuel filter and gearbox dip stick is. So just as difficult to get at. Cheers from George

Hi David the heater is fed from the main engine Diesel Tank which is under the vehicle somewhere at the back. I put a T piece into the rubber hose after engine fuel filter which is drivers side hatch. Cheers from old George

Do you get issues with exhaust fumes as its mounted towards the sliding door the exhaust outlet i mean

Well yes and no. On start up it can slightly get smelly but only if sliding door is not shut properly. The kitchen area is opposite side of the sliding door and allways have a window slightly open to get rid of steam when cooking and condensation. This is why diesel heater outlet is sliding door side. Sliding Door is normally shut fully on cold days and heaters on. Windy days and if close parked near aa wall can make fumes into van. But it would if other side as well. In terms of ease of installation. It's easier to run exhaust pipe alongside chassis than pipe crossing over under gearbox to other side. Running pipe further along van and around spare wheel and towbar not an option. Works well for us in the position we have it. Cheers from George

There called Dicky seats. Tilt the back of passenger or drivers seat forward slant and you can sit, perch on them facing backwards towards back of van. Named after small seats that can be found in the back of vintage cars. Not sure how to spell Dicky . Cheers from George

A rumble seat, dicky seat, also called a mother-in-law seat, is an upholstered seat which folded into the rear of a coach, carriage, or early motorcar. Depending on its configuration, it provided seating for one or two passengers.

@@MakeDoAndMend1 Ah, OK. Jump seats or rumble seats is what we call them. Rumble seats are usually in the back like the old 30's Roadsters over here in the states.
