I have been thinking about taking on Floyd Mayweather's Jump Rope Routine for 2 years now. I'll never forget the first time I watched it, and how amazed I was. I didn't know someone could be that good at jumping rope. So I set out to learn Floyd Mayweather's toughest skipping routine with the goal of doing it in 50 days. This was by far the hardest challenge I have ever taken on, and really forced me to take my jump rope skills to the next level. Over the course of this jump rope challenge, I was pushed to my limits, but overall I think I developed new jump rope skills, mastered new jump rope moves, and became a more resilient person. I hope you like the video!
Have a great week guys! Cheers.

I've got some thoughts on the comparison of your challenge to the Mayweather workout. He actually uses a pure PVC Rope which is way lighter. While the CrossRopes have Wire in them which makes using them a heavier workout since you have to exert more force. The handling of a PVC Rope is way smoother to do all sorts of tricks and stuff. So using the CrossRope for this type of workout doesn't do you any favor. Also the whip is way more painful on wired ropes. A slight Con might be that the Mayweather Crossover-DoubleUnder is an Uncross-Cross where you start with a crossed rope and end with an open rope. So it's actually a little more difficult than the other way around... Anyways great Video love seeing other people picking up the rope and working through all the pain it inflicts because you just can't give it a rest ;) Great Keep it up!
@joepana88
@joepana88 8 ай бұрын
Idk what video you just watched... but that "slightly con" part that you remarked was ass backwards... literally Mayweather starts crossed arms and ends open, this guy starts open rope and ends crossed for his double under crossovers... I paused and slow motioned it to make sure my eyes decieveth me not... and my eyes decieveth me not. Unless you just got them mixed up? Also, neither is harder, some are harder for some, others are the other way... I think open then cross is easier.... some people think cross then open is easier
@jkadowaki1923
@jkadowaki1923 11 ай бұрын
You're doing different double under crosses than Floyd, he begins his double unders by crossing the rope. This means he jumps, crosses, uncrosses, and then lands. He lands with his hands open, not crossed. I made this mistake too, it takes a bit of time to learn but it's very much doable. The progression would be doing a cross into double under where you hold the double under while crossed, then land and uncross it. This teaches you to whip the rope while crossing to get enough speed for a double under cross. I can post a video showing the differences. Also, I would highly recommend getting a longer rope. You can make it work with a shorter rope, but it locks your hands super low which makes you look very stiff. Check how long Floyd's rope is- it's actually very long. I've found the extra length makes doing fast crossovers and double under crossovers a LOT more forgiving since you have more room to work with.

Dude, honestly, you taking longer than 50 days is so encouraging. I’ve been jump roping 5 times per week for 63 days and I can’t do a single crossover or a single double under. Lol. Why is this so hard??

have to carefully asses your hand and elbow position and what you are doing vs. what you think you are doing. Fix these and you will get it, watch videos of others doing it in slow motion every small detail height of things and positioning matter - also making the rope too short by hand movement or wrong timed jumps / jumping too high off the ground are usually the culprits.

Hmmm... That's weird, I would recommend going over basics and improving them a lot. I don't want to brag, but just show an example of what can be done if you workout in the smartest way possible. About 2 weeks ago my uncle showed me his incredible dancing skills while jumping rope, therefore last week I decided to give it a try since I had never jumped rope before. I couldn't even do one jump, I started trying 5 days a week like you for 15 minutes... First two days, nothing... could barely do two jumps but my knees caved and my arms were really open...then guess what, by the fifth day I was doing double unders, single crossovers, and even a basic dance move which I don't even know the name of hahaha. I am really excited because my uncle told me my progress was like a rocket, but I don't think it's because of talent like he says (I'm extremely uncoordinated and never learned to dance because of it) I think it's because of sticking to basics and just going above and beyond with them. (Kind of like learning how to do one push up, but get to the point where you can do 50 push ups at once, it definitely improves a lot of things at once) Also, you might think I got to that point quickly because my experienced uncle taught me. Well, we barely see each other, it was all learned through KZbin videos. Getting the form correctly helps so much, and adjusting the rope makes a huge difference

Fantastic lesson in perseverance 👏, but as I am from a boxing background I don't think you thought about how big a part footwear plays in this. I think you would have had a much quicker progression in boxing boots as they are almost completely flat with no heel to toe drop and also are narrower and provide ankle support. In my experience they really do promote a much better posture for skipping

I jump like mad. 3000 jumps a day for five days a week for the last three years. That Mayweather video is what inspired me or at least along the way it did. Doing his routine with a Crossrope. I just don’t see how. I use Crossrope for about 75% of my workout. But they’re not good for that type of jumping because of the little swivels on the handles especially. You broke your body for an advertisement. This is an edit, but I just want to say I do not believe that Floyd himself could do his routine with a Crossrope. I use a beaded rope and some other light ropes to learn and do tricks of any kind. Crossrope is there to burn the hell outta some calories. OK, final edit. I made it to the end of the video. I got to say this was very very inspiring. I am stuck on a particular move and juggling right now and knowing that it could take 87 days or more is helpful. The jump rope. In your early videos, I laughed at your form and thought it was funny. Now you are a total bad ass. Props to you.

@@Donovarkhallum no I still stand by my statement that the cross rep was the wrong rope. Mayweather’s rope is way too long. That’s the criticism from everyone. But also, I think he would’ve completed the challenge all the way sooner had he not been using Crossrope exclusively. For sure.

Man, one of my favorite things from this was how you kept showing how many days had passed even after you had passed the initial challenge time. One of the hardest things, least for me, is sticking with something after I feel like I've already failed terribly in terms of where I thought progress would be. But, oftentimes it seems like most of the true progress comes from sticking with habits long after the "glamor" wears off... It might feel like your stuck in place, but if you can stay force yourself to stay consistent, one day you look down and realize you've made it miles from where you started. Cheers to all the fellow travelers out there and let's keep plowin ahead

Things that will help make faster progress. Get a body kength mirror to watch yourself as you practice. Try weighted ropes to slow down the moves a lot. And practice leatning each move seperately, only moving to the next trick once you master that one. If you have problems that just get you in a rut you should start adjusting rope length an inch or 2 at a time and give it at least a couple of days of practicing before changing length again. Try different materials of rope until you find the one that works best for the particular routine you're doing and finally start putting the moves together once you can do them all seperately
