Volty's rollout is really under appreciated. I'm telling you, with a level 60 Volty using roll out I swept the entire Elite Four before. You could probably do the same for Red since Pikachu is up first. As long as you don't get charmed Volty's speed is high enough to sweep the rest at around level 70 - 80 with maxed out roll out.

This was a great challange. It would be interesting to do a "Can you beat pokemon(x) without catching a single pokemon. The basis is to only use Pokemon you receive from others (like your starter) and the ones you can buy like the game corner in earlier gens. Sell all pokeballs you find and you have to manage your hms with the pokemon you receive. I figured yellow would be the easiest because you are given every gen 1 starter but later gens would probably be very challenging.

Elven Anbu oh yeah you can do that pretty easily. In fact virtually every one of my play throughs when i was a kid i dod just that. I mean i had hm slaves but every game for the firat three generations i used the starter exclusively. By the time you get to the elite four even without grinding you are way over leveled. But i always chose charmander, cydaquil and torchic and by the elite four i was already in the high 60’s and with all other pokemon in my party like in the 20’s or 30’s. Basically hm slaves and then utility pokemon like someone to know hypnosis and stuff like that. The starters are definitely in the upper third as far as power level so that wouldnt be a problem at all for someone to do, like i said easily 10 or more playthroughs of mine when i was younger i did that because i loved being overleveled and having an absolute animal of a single viable pokemon Edit: i guess i didnt fully read what you said, yes that would be an interesting challenge for sure. I feel like you could probably do it, but this is something he should do!

Oooh I like the game corner Pokemon only challenge idea. Might do it on Crystal Clear as you can select a Porygon as your starter and then get the rest of your team once you get to either Goldenrod or Celedon depending which region you start in. But then one rule with it being the open world hack; it still has to be played in the same order as Gen 2 normally is played. With a bonus challenge at the end; Beat all the Gym Leaders a second time at their best.

@@mjm3091 I don't think "normal" people would consider using Foresight because only 4 evolution lines at that stage of the game (Hoothoot, Yanma, Machop, and Venonat) can learn the move. Even then, Hoothoot, Machop, and Venonat have the options of Dig, Mud Slap, and Confusion which destroys Morty's team with super effective damage.

Rocky has a special place in my heart, even as an Onix it managed to put Red's Snorlax to KO with Strength while the rest of my squad struggled to do it. Eventually I migrated the rom and sav file to mobile My OldBoy emulator (i originally played it using VBA on my laptop) and Rocky finally became Steelix.

@@Neceroe the mobile emulators can do that. You could either trade/battle with other people if youre connected to the same WiFi or you can do that "locally" in which you trade/battle with yourself with the same device with compatible games. PC emulators can also trade but its more complicated.

I know this is really late, but I still feel this needs to be said: Ice Punch on Muscle wouldn't have helped. In generations 1 through 3 Physical/Special was determined solely by the move's type. Which, in this case, means that Ice Punch would be running off Machoke's abysmal Special Attack, not its Physical.

I had an idea, wich i think could be interresting. You can take every Pokemon you want, but you cant teach it new moves, so it will alway stick to a few weak moves. In the case of charmander this could be Scratch, Growl, Ember and Smokescreen. How you do it, wich Mons you take and how you deal with HMs is your thing. And you might need a rule how to Choose youre Team, i think with only a starter it could be impossible. I think evolving should be allowed to, but on the other hand i kinda want to see you loose a challenge so maybe even no evolutions.

Fun fact. In some games, if you have a disobedient pokemon but it has Quick Attack, just use that. Since Quick Attack has Priority, it ignores Speed, and is some games, along the with its obedience level.

I just visualized an Onyx and a Machoke chucking rocks at pokemon while Don steps on some poor bug type pokemon. At the same time an Electrode rolls around like a flipping idiot. This has been the highlight of my day and I feel as if everyone should know this.
