It was banned in 2020 when the format, which was less than a year old at the time, couldn't handle it. There has been some contention on whether Heliod should have been hit instead.

I think game 1 of the Benbens, the optimal play for Ulmer was to cast doggy instead of palace jailer. If he got the squirrels, he could attack wheelers comet and solitude the fury, If he got the damage, he could shoot the fury and pray for no squirrels (worst case), and if he got the regrowth, get the bolt to shoot comet and solitude Wheeler's fury.

He could have sacced his board to Goblin Bombardment to deal 6 to Wheeler, and then sacced the token created from Anax to kill Wheeler with Uro on the stack. tbf, maybe he was playing around an instant speed lifegain trick, but then you do this interaction while the Uro is still on the stack.

In the first game of Wheeler v Ben, I would have liked Ben to cast Comet, roll for it, then if he got squirrels evoke Solitude to remove Fury and then kill Comet with squirrels. Or if he didn't roll squirrels, he still could have evoked Solitude to remove Fury on Wheeler's turn. Really anything that didn't involve Wheeler getting Fury back AND the Monarch.

Dreadhorde Arcanist and similar effects (Flashback most noteworthy) exiles these cards if they move away from the stack to any zone (except for exile [which is important for a few cases like Arc Blade - those card will return]).

ben did not have the mana to cast logic not on the opposition agent. he untaped his mana then decided to fetch at end of turn but when he re taped he left one more land untaped

he decided to fetch at EOT, with two lands tapped two fetches and a triome, fetches once which makes nelly respond with opp agent, then he fetches second time this one resolves and he gets volcanic island untapped, tops volc and triome and delves for 4, so X=4 total CMC 6, nelson has to pay 4 for logic knot for it not to counter the agent, which he can't do bc he doesnt have the mana for it. Wheeler has the moves like jagger if he really did misplay, which happens, not only would the former judge he is playing against have caught it but the other two knuckleheads would have seen it too, not to mention paul on tech or the hundreds that were in chat at the time.

27:30 ish, Wheeler missed 2 triggers. Missed Bean draw after the connive when bean resolved, then miss connive on Alex's turn. Fixed the connive, but he was a card short the rest of the game

In game 1 for Ben v Ben, hitting the jailer with swords pre-combat should have meant that the Fury went away forever - jailer exiles it until an opponent becomes the monarch, so icing the jailer pre-combat means that its ability to return the card no longer exists. Don’t know that it ultimately mattered in any case, but jailer is an oddball

I love seeing some Canlander, especially with Wheeler, but to be honest this one isn't doing it for me - Wheeler's deck is just too strong, so the matches feel very one-sided.

I think it's good that a top tier deck is represented, but when it's up against brews and pet decks it does just completely dominate. Maybe some episodes could be all meta decks and others all fun decks
