Candied Walnuts |

I'm so happy to be part of Renee of Pike Creek Kitchen's collaboration. And even happier to share this easy and delicious recipe with you.
Nuts at Christmas are very nostalgic to me and probably many of you as well. This is a fun, fast and delicious way to incorporate them into your holiday entertaining. You can use any other nut you prefer, almonds, pecans and even hazelnuts would be delicious.

Easy Candied Walnuts
INGREDIENTS
• 2 cups walnut halves and pieces
• 1 large egg white
• 1/3 cup light brown sugar
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract or vanilla bean paste
• 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
PREPARATION STEPS
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
2. In a medium bowl, mix together the nuts, egg white, sugar, vanilla and cinnamon until well blended.
3. Spread the nuts on a baking sheet lined with parchment and bake in the oven for 8-10 minutes.
4. Transfer the baking sheet to a wire rack to cool completely.
5. Break the nuts apart and store in an airtight container for up to 7 days.

Oh my goodnes….. I sure do love candied nuts! My grandparents always had the big bowl of nuts and crackers and picks, and like you it was only seasonally!

I remember the appetizer table in the living room and people standing around it eating various candy, cookies, and cracking the variety of nuts that we only had a Christmas. My mom had a nut shaped bowl that held the nuts, and it also held the cracker and picks.

oh how i remember the mixed nuts in the shells miss those days lol. back then the brazil nuts were my favorite. lol. those look great

Yes! Pecans, walnuts and almonds showed up sometimes during the year, but Brazil nuts were that strange, delicious nut that I never saw any other time. Thanks for watching!

Merry Christmas! I was just talking to my husband about that tradition of having a bowl full of all sorts of various nuts and the nutcracker out every Christmas we always did growing up and my grandparents did. I can remember every home did this, it was a holiday tradition. I think a lot of holiday traditions are gone. I want to try this recipe. We use a lot of nuts in our home. Have a blessed day!
