Maybe that building could be turned into an incubator room and nursery for the chooks. That brown mulch really makes the plants stand out 🤩

The brownish red mulch really makes the greens pop. It gives a really nice complementary contrast, I think putting some against the house would look really good especially since the house is white it allows the garden to really shine against it.

Those Loropetalum will grow large enough to be a hedge…if you put a few together .., I love ours… I’m in north Atlanta ga area zone. I’m allergic to them weirdly enough… they make me itch like crazy… but they are really gorgeous when they bloom. You know you could use that structure for a homestead helper like a barndaminium😉

I would clip that center stem on that rose. Even if it is a climbing variety, it is not growing right. Everything is looking nice!

Your 100% right, not only would the chickens help with world hunger, but feeding chickens kitchen scraps cuts down on tons of food waste in the landfills. When breeding for splash you want to breed them back to black to darken them. Yes you’ll get only 50/50 but it’ll still improve the lines.

Take the long shoot on the rose bush. Dig a hole and plant it. When you see new growth on the planted end cut it off at the original plant

Cut that top growth out of the top, feed them with Rose Tone by Espoma. Roses love to be cut back! Mine were shoulder high last year and I cut them down to 2-3’. Trim off any foliage that grows inward, leave the inside of the plant open to air and light.

Hey Rachel everything's looking nice and fresh there. The plants are really beautiful such nice pretty colors... With the way things are now I don't think I would want to have anybody on my property.. especially with it being so close to your living quarters and where you work with your chickens and work with the dogs. It's just too close and invades your space. I don't know I guess it's just the introvert in me. I don't want anybody all up in my space... Unless it's somebody that you known for a while and can really trust it's just not worth it... I think it would be great to renovate that and make it a whelping room and a nursery for the pups. I don't know when you'll be able to have births there again, but it would be really nice to have a space for whelping and you wouldn't have to have them in your house anymore... ✌️And Blessings

I agree. Or maybe someone that will help out on the property. You know, that hot farm hand Rachel needs 😄. They can take care of the dogs too if Rachel goes somewhere.

That pine with the new tip growth Is going to grow into a behemoth! I’m sure you know that already :-) The garden is looking really good! 😊. Well done on keeping up with the lawn mowing- love those ride ons. I love the idea of a small dwelling made out of a barn- super cute. Air bnb!

Oooh, you could fix that building up and offer it to Manny. He could be on site to help with both the dogs and chicks.

So cool. I love the daydreaming about options for the building and the thoughts re hunger. HOA would have to shut up about noise etc. I'm intrigued by the chicks, what do you now about the lavenders?

We need 6 hens to have plenty of eggs for us and some to give away occasionally. The production goes way down after 2- 2 1/2 years. And we need new ones now and the 3 we have only give us 2 eggs every 3-4 days. Chickens breeds raised for meat are really fast growing and are no good as layers.

I mentioned it on the other channel, but I highly suggest turning that barn into a house and letting people stay there in exchange for doing all that work on the property. Work exchange. It wouldn't bring income, but imagine what you could do with your time if your task list was cleared up.

Don't ask for an estimate because they can still charge you more. You need to ask for a quote as that is a fixed price.

you can cut those growths and put them in coarse sea salt and make special taste salt. Good for the health (despite the fact that main is salt!)

Nice video as always! Place looks great and so do the animals! Man that is one LOUD rooster! Sounded like he didnt want you in his house! Lol! Which one by the way was the rooster? Just from size Id have guessed the one really big fat white one. Had some black spots on its lower half. That is one big chicken! You could maybe turm the barn into s small apartment for Savannah. Shes working so she could pay rent and it would be a good way for her to get ready to be on her owm and maybe sace some money. Just a thought. Love your videos! Later! ❤❤

Dogs aren’t very helpful with gardening in my experience. My dog dug up a corn start and I replanted it and he tore it out again. Maybe you could do something chicken related with the building if your breeding program expands.

I swear I just seen something about a town who literally gave its residents who applied for them chicken's !!! And just by all the people that signed up for them it not only provided families with food but also took the waste of town way down by simply allowing the chicken's to eat their scraps !! There shouldn't be anyone starving in today's world smh

Turning a barn into a liveable place to rent is a biiig job. The foundation must be checked. An engineer needs to check the structure before you start and all defects must be planned for to pull permits. With your grumpy neighbors don't even try to do it without permits. If someone squawks you might put in a whole lot of work and money and not be able to rent it. But you might want the space for equipment and parking. Wouldn't a few machines help out around the place? Hauling dog food, hauling hay or bedding with machines, in case you add farm animals besides chickens like you talked about before? I'd say to resolve the swimming pool area. Either fill it in or put money into making it functional and also fixing fencing around the place to better control the dogs. To me the basics like that should come before you start a house building project. That's a big money job and requires the permit process which can be time consuming. How about a ride'em mower and a rototiller for a garden area where you can feed yourself and the chickens with greens and veggies instead? Speaking of which, it's past lunch time and I need a salad quick before I eat cookies instead. Diabetic cookies aren't filling, they are awful and not low calorie. So salad.

i wouldnt rent the building out cuz youll have to jump through many hoops to get it up to code and prove that it's up to code; and if any rifts popup between you and them it's far too close of quarters to you and your animals. also maybe some food for thought: i have 17 acres with a neighbor who put their house only about 40feet away from my fence line. which sounds far away but it's really not. everytime i check my mail it's so awkward cuz i feel like im being watched and anytime they have the TV on i can hear it... LOL it's just weird... i dont like it
