The type C port on the C80 can be used to do network live streaming over WiFi or Ethernet, you can use a Type C to Rj45 adapter for Ethernet the one I used that worked for the c70 was a belkin type C to Rj45 but they also have approved models for WiFi networking as well. It’s pretty cool once you set it up there’s a whole web based menu to control camera functions from an iPad or PC

I played with some footage sample I could find of the C80 and color graded them. The camera produce really good footage with easy color grading workflow.

RF glass is excellent. Great camera. I'm happy with my C70 for now. It's given me a lot of bang for the buck and I've used a ton of footage shot on scout days in the final commercials.

They missed out on putting a record button on the handle. The multishoe is kind of useless for most people unless they made a good canon mic or audio adapter

This changes my plans considerably. There's no reason for me to buy the C300 Mark III now. Just this morning the C70 went down in price by a thousand bucks. The C400 will be in stores November 1st and the C80 will be available November 4th. I guess I can survive until then. The R5C also went down a bit. So, when C400 & C80 Master Class??

As a C70 shooter it looks very nice and a good price point - I still don't understand the lack of optional EVF for either the C70 or C80 - clearly these cameras a geared for run-and-gun and doc shoots and I personally find it impossible to use my C70 flip out display in bright sun. No ability to critically focus, compose or even read settings.

If only it had faster cards and a loupe option like the Sony FS7 did, then it would be documentary shooter dream camera. SD cards really aren't reliable though and break often. I would not trust using them in the jungle for four months like I did using Son'y XQD cards. This camera really needs a loupe or eye piece option for brighter sunny locations or they should include a LCD flip open shade...

Not a c70 owner but asking anyone C70 owner if they would upgrade to the c80? Asking as am currently in a position to purchase the c70 but would it be worth to just get the c80? All video I seen comparing the 2 I genuinely cannot see the difference other than DOF which am not fussed on!

@CringePanda probably the Full Frame 6K. I was tempted by the 6K pro for the buil in ND filters, and briefly interested in the Pyxis, but for the price it seems like the full frame 6K is the best image out there for the money. I've no interest in filming at 6K though, way too big file sizes!

@Crimsonengine I've been using the BMPCC OG for a couple of years and no issues...other than the measly 5 minutes each battery lasts! It's so hard to see past Blackmagic when they're half the price of everything else pretty much, and as good as if not better an image.

It should. It's supported on SDI on other Canon C-series cameras. But there's also a RAW HDMI option for the C80, which will allow for 6k60 RAW. The limitation with only 6k30 RAW in camera is the speed of the media.

There’s only two reasons really, Komodo X has a global shutter which is better for sports and auto filming and the raw files from red.

@@memcrew1 The RED KX is $1500 more expensive and is a Super 35 camera with no internal NDs, bad autofocus, bad lowlight and overpriced proprietary accessories that are necessary for the camera to function normally including their insanely overpriced monitor because the onboard screen is unusable. The C80 is full frame, with internal NDs, much better lowlight, superior autofocus etc. Even 7K is too much for the Komodo X. People just wanted to own a RED camera so they pretended like it wasn't overpriced tech. It's game over for RED once Sony releases their new cameras and the new Canon cameras become available as well Blackmagic etc.

Really? That’s strange. Doing commercial work I’ve never had a client that even knew the difference from one camera to the next. Although, you need matte boxes and other accessories so it looks “professional” and high end in some cases. I don’t even buy cameras anymore as renting based on a on their budget and project needs makes more sense. Unless you’re just renting yourself out as a cameraman I suppose. For a “set” as you put it, I would discuss the project with the DP and decide on the camera and lenses, and not say “what camera do we own?”

@@jchase8223 the C400 is way more future proof, it just makes more sense for a professional to use and own. there are so much more to a camera than the sensor. when we talk about economics and just how to operate it, it becomes very apparent that the C400 simply is the better choice. When you have a client that spend big money on the production, they want to know that you use proper gear for proper gigs.

It’s so obvious that these videos are rigged and paid for. Nothing against you because I’ve watched you for years, but are you really excited for the C80?. It’s a camera of catching up with the already existing market which will be bypassed again. The mere fact that the camera doesn’t do 60 frames at 6K is a joke. The SD card selection is a joke and it’s a purposeful cripple ! big deal full frame. That’s what you’re excited for? The C4 hundred should’ve been built even better so the C80 could’ve shined a little more. It’s like apple and the iPhone the iPhone 20 is already done. They will just wait to release it. My assumption is that SONY has been quiet for a while and they’re going to do something that makes everybody regret buying canon and I’m not even a SONY owner. (yawn) …the ultimate doc camera has been here for years: Sony FX6 (or even the FX3) This is Canons latecomer to the party. I ditched Canon after years of using them on Netflix, HBO and other streamers. Bad color science, worse ergonomics and heavy. Jumped to Sony 2 years ago. Never looked back. This is too little too late. Also, you should state the obvious: no one making docs - features or otherwise - needs 6K or Raw. Ask an editor or DIT how they feel about it. Lastly, anyone who needs more than two native ISO’s on a camera (I came of age using one) should not be shooting.

The absolutes are adorable. However, speak for yourself. For theatrical, 6k is much appreciated for reasons that should be obvious, and, as for editors, every feature show I know - theatrical docs or broadcast that I’ve been attached to - cuts in proxies, so origination is irrelevant re show build. Even spots, if not insane turnaround, are mostly in proxies. If you’re delivering to Netflix, you’re aware that raw and log files are expected on original shows, appreciated on a negative pickups.
