Ouch, I guess 13 was unlucky! They are icky but I've found slugs to be a good sign on old pine...when there are slugs there usually aren't other bugs or borers.

@@southernadirondackoutdoors that's true there were no bug holes.

I saw another guy that rotates the log opposite of the way you did this one. His rationale was that it offered a clean side to the blade. (his were really sandy and dirty)

@@mcsawmill I enjoy watching all you guys on KZbin saw. It much different than what I have to do. For us it’s all about getting done as much as possible bandaid stuff if we have too. Do fixes at break or lunch or on weekends. You keep sawing like you are you put out a good product I enjoy the content very much !

Cut through that nail like butta' ! If not for messing up the set it may have continued to cut well.
@mcsawmill2 ай бұрын
@@andysmith8544 you may be right Andy but that was a really big nail that would have stopped the saw with a double hard blade. It was like 1/4 thick.

Some years ago I saw an Instagram post from a sawyer who found a railroad spike in a log. Snapped his blade. I need to put my carbide blades on my mill the next time I saw. Stop using the garbage steel ones.

@@erikleorga I may have a way to sharpen carbides, haven't had to yet.

I think Sir: you need to invest in metal detector for logs it stop this loss of saw blades , it's bad as myself with chain saw cutting 20" round and contacting small Nail or long time back small dog cable or chain ⛓️ take it from me I ate lots chains ripped teeth right off
@mcsawmill2 ай бұрын
@@DonaldRak-ku6bi a decent metal detector would be nice. I have a cheap one that only finds big metal.
