What a most beautiful, perfect, magical night of the greatest REAL American Rock N'Roll music. Carl sounded as cool and smooth as he did 30 years earlier. And the other legendary Rock performers that joined him on stage. From his old friends to the new disciples like Lee Rocker and Slim Jim Phantom. But to me it was George Harrison that made me cry. He was already starting to get ill. But if you look at his face, his performance and more importantly his smile. You know he was so happy to be there. Playing the music he grew up as a teenager listening to and learning to play. The same music he played for Lennon and McCartney. The same music he played with them in Hamburg, at the Cavern Club and on their early records. He was in his element this night. God how I wish I could have been there. This is what Rock N'Roll is all about cats and kittens. ❤

The ultimate salute from the Beatles' generation to the Sun Studio generation, without whom the former would never have existed. Interestingly, the first time Harrison met Noel Gallagher, he asked him if he liked Carl Perkins. So, it's clear that Perkins was one of George's greatest musical influences, and therefore one of the Beatles' and of all of popular music. I feel like this was Carl at his absolute peak singing wise, One of the greats and no one ever stepped on his blue suede shoes!

When a list of the greatest rock n' roll performances of all time is compiled, this wonderful show must rank somewhere in the top ten. In my humble opinion, this might be the greatest rock n' roll performance from any era ever captured on camera. Perkins, Clapton, Harrison, and Starr somehow manage to sing and play better here than they have in the past 40 years! You can feel the electricity in every song as each performer rocks their hearts out with the great Carl Perkins at the peak of his talent. This fabulous show has rocked my soul since I first discovered it in my uncle's collection in 1996. Clapton's dynamite performance at 12:40 is simply the best rock n' roll he's played in decades!

It is great. This came up on autoplay after I played a 1956 live version of Honey Don't. I didn't expect the integrity. He sounds like Carl Perkins. He feels like him. He doesn't really look like the young guys but he hadn't lost a thing. The Beatles--maybe George and John the most--loved this kind of music, and that's to their credit. You can have the whole British invasion for all I care. Not too keen on any more invasions.

I know. I had just turned 18 when I watched the original broadcast of this on TV and remember thinking how great it was to watch this 'old' original rockabilly, who I'd only seen in black and white recordings. Now here I am at 53yo myself and the same age as Carl was then! He really wasn't that old at all.
