I was an alcoholic who constantly ate junk food, rarely exercised, slept poorly, etc. (pretty much all the bad habits). After being fed up with feeling miserable and tired all the time due to my poor lifestyle, I decided to finally make a change. I limited my alcohol consumption, started working out every other day and riding a bicycle on my rest days, changed up my diet completely by switching to mostly whole, natural foods (things with 3 ingredients or less). And let me tell you, I’ve never felt this good before. I am able to fall asleep and stay asleep for 7 hours, and my brain no longer feels foggy throughout the day. My skin cleared up, hair became thicker and fuller, among other benefits. Its amazing how simple it is to turn your life around and be truly happy. You just have to want it, and take the first steps. Once you get the ball rolling, I promise you it never stops. Stay healthy and be the best version of yourself! If I made it, we can all make it.

The fact that the more healthy food you eat the more you crave it is so true! I never understood people who thought that those wet vegetables in ads looked tempting but since I changed my diet to be mostly veggie-based I started to crave them so much!

I've just recently been diagnosed with stage 3 kidney disease. There sure is a lot to learn! I have started trying to eat healthier but I am struggling with exercising! I know once I get started, it will get easier, but getting started.... I've also quit smoking! It's only been 2 weeks, but I know I can do this. I want to be around for a while! I'm hoping your book will give me some good, easy recipes because I'm not much of a cook.

@@bnice8940 Thank you for the encouragement AND the review of the recipes! I bought 2 other Renal Diet cookbooks, but most of the recipes in both of them are kinda "out there" , and need ingredients that we just don't have where I live, or need equipment I don't have. I will probably be sending both back.

First off - be proud of yourself for the great changes you have already made. You are already so far ahead and once you add in exercise - I believe you are going to see a lot of positive changes. Remember slow and steady. Start by just taking a walk around your neighborhood.

i totally agree when you said giving you confidence and be proud of yourself. I am 33 and currently weighing 72kilos but I feel like my body gets tired easily. Due to my nature of work, always facing my computer at home, I neglected my health and never do exercise. This made me depress specially whenever I see my old photos and feeling kinda regret thinking why did I allow myself to be like this. Now I am starting a healthy lifestyle. I started moving more and do exercise. I even go to the market by walking. Sweating myself and I am not ashamed on how I look. My mind is already fixed and I wanted to get to my old self.

Thank you for your dedication and for providing us with medical advice for keeping us healthy. How true! You couldn't of said it better. I've lost 90 pounds so far and what an improvement in my blood work results. My Cardiologist told me my exercise stress test was very good and that I have no heart problems. About a year ago as I was making breakfast, a voice popped up in my head that said 'eat clean'. Believing it was God, I did as I was told and started eating clean. Within a very short period of time I lost 20 lb. Perhaps because I am a pescatarian, It took me quite a while to gain back the 10 lb of it - which I believe I need. My big problem with eating clean is that it's hard for me to find enough clean foods to hit my 2000 per day calorie goal without all the FAT and, too much fiber. So I am going to follow you and hope that you have lots of good recipes for me. 🙏🙏🙏

so what happens to your body when you 0:01 start eating healthy here are some 0:03 things you'll notice immediately and 0:05 hopefully we'll keep eating healthy in 0:07 the future now I was thinking about this 0:09 the other day when I was watching a 0:10 lecture about climate change you might 0:12 say well what does climate change have 0:13 to do with eating healthy 0:15 well the whole point of this lecture was 0:17 that climate change doesn't necessarily 0:20 impact you right where you are at that 0:22 time the impacts regarding climate 0:24 change and how it relates to you are 0:27 distant and maybe somebody who lives far 0:29 away 0:30 it may be 20 years in the future maybe 0:34 even your grandkids and it's really hard 0:36 to make yourself make changes for things 0:39 that are not impacting you immediately 0:41 we all have this problem you know if you 0:43 put your hand on the stove and it hurts 0:44 you're going to take your hand away and 0:45 you're never going to touch it again but 0:47 if you eat some sugary foods and 30 0:49 years later you're at risk for a heart 0:51 attack that's a much harder Association 0:54 to make and change to make based on 0:56 those things so today I'm going to give 0:58 you some things that you can pay 0:59 attention to that maybe will happen 1:01 quickly so you can be motivated to make 1:04 healthy changes and continue to lead a 1:07 healthier life I'm Dr Blake Schusterman Introduction 1:09 I'm a board certified kidney doctor and 1:10 I'm also the cooking Doc and everything 1:12 we talk about here today is just for 1:14 information make sure you subscribe to 1:15 my channel click the like button hit 1:17 that Bell so you never miss a new recipe 1:18 or a new health tip every week I want to 1:21 give you one piece of information make 1:22 you more knowledgeable so that you can 1:25 lead a healthier lifestyle and better 1:27 your health in many ways so the first Getting Used to Eating Healthy Foods 1:29 thing you'll notice when you start 1:31 eating healthier foods is you'll want 1:32 healthier foods in the future believe it 1:35 or not but the more you eat them the 1:37 more you'll want them later and the more 1:39 your body will get used to them so you 1:41 kind of have to just get over that hump 1:42 and then your body will keep asking for 1:45 you to be healthy 1:47 next and this is my favorite one you're How Healthy Eating Makes You Feel 1:49 gonna feel better pay attention to how 1:51 you feel after you have a big heavy meal 1:54 or fast food you probably don't feel so 1:56 good but if you've eaten a lighter meal 1:58 that still tastes good but that doesn't 2:01 have so many calories or fat or salt 2:03 your body will actually feel better 2:04 especially if you've made that food at 2:07 home pay attention to your body it'll 2:10 tell you how you feel after you eat and 2:12 if you pay attention you'll notice that 2:14 healthier food makes you feel better 2:16 you know what else you're going to feel 2:18 you're going to feel more confident now 2:20 how does confidence have to do with how 2:21 you're eating I'll tell you when you 2:24 make a decision and you make a change to 2:27 do something to better your health 2:28 you're going to be proud of yourself 2:31 and you should be because it's not easy 2:33 but making a decision to go on a walk or 2:37 exercise or create a healthy meal will 2:40 make you feel better about yourself not 2:42 only will your body feel better but 2:44 you're going to be more confident and 2:46 you're going to want to keep making 2:47 decisions to keep up that confidence to 2:50 make you feel better make you feel 2:52 stronger you won't regret it it'll 2:54 happen pretty quickly 2:56 just think about the last time you made 2:58 a delicious meal that was good for you 3:00 or the last time you went to the gym 3:02 think about the lasting effects of 3:06 making that decision on your psyche it's 3:09 really important you'll notice a 3:11 difference immediately Gut Health / Gut Microbiome 3:13 and lastly your gut health is going to 3:15 improve Okay this may not be something 3:17 that you notice exactly immediately but 3:19 we as Physicians are noting more and 3:22 more how important the gut microbiome is 3:25 how your gut microbiome may play a role 3:28 in anything from your immunity 3:31 to your brain health to anxiety and 3:34 depression so in addition to possibly 3:37 helping all these other things in your 3:38 body you'll also have less bloating most 3:41 likely and you may be more regular these 3:43 are important things that can affect you 3:45 on a day-to-day basis and I want you to 3:47 pay attention to okay did I convince you Wrap Up 3:49 to eat healthy I hope so I hope that I 3:52 at least gave you some ideas about what 3:54 to pay attention to in your own body 3:55 when you're making decisions to help 3:58 benefit your health making decisions 4:00 every day to cook food at home making 4:03 decisions every day to use less salt 4:05 less fat less sugar there are many 4:07 things that you can do every day and you 4:09 will notice the impacts immediately it's 4:12 much more difficult to make changes 4:14 based on things in the future or things 4:16 that are far away from you so focus on 4:18 the immediate changes things that you 4:20 see within the hours and minutes and 4:23 days from when you eat something that's 4:25 better for you 4:26 I think you'll see a real difference 4:29 thanks so much for watching today I'm Dr 4:30 Blake Schusterman I'm a board certified 4:32 kidney doctor and I'm also the cooking 4:33 doctor check out my website 4:34 cookingdoc.com for more recipes and 4:37 health tips check out my book The 4:39 Cooking docs kidney healthy cooking and 4:41 modern 10-step guide I've been doing intermittent fasting for about two years now while also listening to my body, which means eating if fasting becomes too unbearable, for example when I ovulate and I am way more hungry than usual. I haven't really exercised and still lost 21kgs. I am trying to get back into fitness though and I have to say that I have observed how my body craves healthy food more and more, when in the past, I had a horrible relationship with food and even a binge eating disorder.

I no longer drink soda and only eat organic unbleached flour for baking and sprouted bread with seeds. I’ve noticed I feel a lot better but I’ve been really bloated. Is that normal? I no longer crave junk food. We have been doing this for about 1 1/2 months. We only use avocado oil and ghee to cook with and extra virgin olive oil for dressings

I enjoy eating healthy. I even have a food schedule for myself. A. My morning diet: Fruit, fruit-flavored foods, and Diet Coke, so I won't get all tired and drowsy. B. My afternoon diet: A salad with lettuce, tomatoes, cheddar cheese, olive oil, and Diet Coke, so I won't get all tired and drowsy. I also drink refrigated water. C. My nighttime diet: Whatever is cooked for dinner, KFC, McDonald's, shrimp from the Chinese restaurant, Burger King, Popeye's, and anything else. Whenever my little brothers are going out to get fast food, I always order the Caesar salad. I don't even eat the salad dressing. I keep it in the refrigerator. Tonight, I had ribs for dinner. I was so hungry that I ate 5 of them. I drink more water than I do Diet Coke. The reason why I drink Diet Coke in the mornings and early afternoons is so I could be awake and not feel all tired and drowsy. It has the same effects as coffee, but I hate coffee. On June 29th, I had a slice of Daddy's birthday cake. It was a chocolate cake with white and purple icing. I also have cake on my birthday. I also drink milk and eat ice-cream. When Daddy was at home, he always yelled, "HEY," whenever the ice-cream truck came. Daddy had a stroke almost 12 years ago. He now lives in the local nursing home at only 66 years old. We celebrated his birthday there. Daddy had a stroke on February 26th, 2013. The cause of his stroke was because of a bad diet he had growing up. When he was a little boy, he was mostly fed meat, chocolate, cookies, cakes, ice-cream, cupcakes, milkshakes, iced tea, orange soda, fast food, and stuff like that. He was only fed very little fruits and vegetables, such as apples, potatoes, onions, and lima beans. He also drinks lots of water. When Mommy was a little girl, she ate lots and lots of fruit and vegetables. She also ate some meat, fish, shellfish, and bugs. She was born in Laos, so that's why. Today, she eats berries, a vegan diet, sometimes meat, hot peppers, and drinks coffee to stay awake in the mornings. Mommy is now 51 years old and looks very young and beautiful for her age. I'm 27 years old and autistic. I already told you about my diet up above. I have 6 little brothers, ages 15-25. The 25-year-old, Joseph, eats fast food, but tries to maintain a healthy diet since he's serving in the Navy. The 23-year-old, Seth, had a steak and a baked potato with butter and grated Swiss cheese for dinner last night. For a beverage, he drank some lemonade. He is also autistic. The 22-year-old, Zach, is a big guy who is trying to lose weight so he can join the Navy. He doesn't eat very healthy, but he needs a personal trainer. Mommy is worried about him because he might end up like Daddy when he gets to his age. The 20-year-old, Jed, is also a big guy, but not that fat. Mommy also says that Jed doesn't eat very healthy. The 18-year-old, Isaiah, cooks his own meals. He cooks steak and onion burgers for himself. He also eats salads sometimes. He also eats very little because he says that he doesn't like eating that much. The 15-year-old, Jeremiah, also cooks his own meals. When he gets hungry, he cooks. He usually makes himself steak, burgers, hot dogs, toast, grilled cheese, pizza, chicken, sauce, and garlic bread. He also loves fruits, such as apples, bananas, and peaches. He also enjoys vegetables, such as lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, baby carrots, onions, and garlic. I also love spinach and garlic. When he was a little boy, he already knew that candy was not supposed to be eaten for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Seth and I both have high cholesterol. I need to work on avoiding eating too much butter and not putting too much olive oil in my salad. I also eat sodium because if I don't get enough sodium, I get seizures.

Heyyy quick question. I've been eating quite healthily for years, but then for the past 2 months i was really stressed and started eating unhealthily, including very spicy food and processed snacks. This bad diet starts showing on my body with signs like extremely greasy scalp and skin and digestive problems. I have switched back to the good old healthy diet, but im not sure how long it will take for the greasy scalp and other problems to go away? Thanks! Ive been feeling like shit 😅

@eabirsabil0

@@jc4evur661 No, my friend, God is the Lord, and if you believe that Jesus is the Lord, I advise you to search for the truth. Jesus is one of God’s prophets, and God’s messenger is Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, and he is the Seal of the Prophets and Messengers. God is God, and the religion is Islam, and the messenger is Muhammad, and God’s book is the Qur’an, and everything else is distorted (How do you believe that the one who created this universe is a human being who has no power or strength? Leave religions aside and think about this a little. On the Day of Judgment, when you are held accountable, our master Jesus, peace be upon him, will disown you, because one of the heavenly books states that a prophet will come other than our master Jesus, and he is Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, but this book is distorted. But remember that God is God, the prophet is Muhammad, and the religion is Islam, not Christ).

Everybody should eat healthy, nobody should go without or eat too much. This metabolizes your body and you feel alot more healthy. The climate has nothing to do with eating healthy, other than the cold might make you eat and drink warmer liquids and foods.

Your body might be used to more calories if you ate junk food before. Or you might accidentally skip healthy fats and carbs. I'd recommend you to add things like (sweet) potatoes or wholewheat stuff to your meals for the carbs and nuts or olive oil when cooking to have some fats. If you change your diet too quickly and too much (+maybe eating too little) you might not be able to stick with it or it might become unhealthy (under eating or some eating disorders) Hope this helps

That was my issue. In order to shake the addiction you can try to stop eating for a while and start over. Today is day 7 for me, no food. I’ve only had pineapple juice and water. I don’t crave anything at this point. Don’t know how long I’m going on liquid but when I go back to eating it will be just raw fruit and veggies. It’s easier for me to kick the bad food addiction by not eating at all for a while.

Turns out not eating sugar and processed garbage is the key here IMO. I eat heavily salted red meat almost exclusively and have none of the issues I "should" have. I don't eat any fruit or vegetables AT ALL and I've never felt better in my life. Avoiding fat is the biggest mistake you can make. There are essential proteins and essential fats but no essential carbs. "Junk Food" almost always has carbs + fat which doesn't really occur in nature*. You start life off eating animal products(breast feeding) and you should continue to eat animal products after you ween off momma. Guess what breast milk has? fats and carbs... So you can fatten up your baby to give it a better chance of survival if times get lean. COMBINING carbs and fat will kick start the fat storage process starting with extra water retention. You can choose to avoid one of them (carbs or fat) and have success. I can't see humanity surviving millions of years if they had avoided meat so I made my choice.
