Great! I like pecan pie. I recall a girlfriend I had way back in the 1980’s. Sherri worked in the local cafe and she and I would wait for an older farmer (Bob) to stop in. He was such a nice guy, and Sherri would ask him if he wanted pie with his afternoon coffee, and without fail he would say; “I’ll have some of that “pecken pie” if you have any.” “Pecken Pie”. We always smiled. Later Sherri said maybe said it that way just to make us smirk; she might have been right! 😀. Anyway, we always like pecan pie, and Bob was a fun guy! 😀 Thanks again! Ken

Absolutely LOVE this idea. Not only does it combine two classic holiday flavor profiles, but it seems like a cheat code to make a successful pecan(ish) pie without risking a loose, weepy filling. I know that it comes easy for some, but it can be difficult to get the texture right for a pecan pie to set-up nice and firm. I know I've accidentally ended up with pecan soup in a pie crust before.

This looks absolutely amazing!! It really inspired me to give it a try. I've made your fruitcake recipe for a couple years now. In fact, my brother in law said that it was the best fruitcake he's ever had! So I'll have to do both of these recipes this year! I'll leave my political opinions to myself, but this sure brightened an otherwise depressing week!! Take care!!

I say "puh-cahn" because when I was a kid, the peecan was right behind the wellhouse at Granny's house. 😀 That does look like a wonderful recipe. I bet it came from Karo Syrup or Dixie Crystals Sugar originally. Thanks, Hans and Kevin, for passing it on.

We have some texture issues in the house; not taking the nuts into account, how is the texture of the pumpkin filling for this pie vs traditional pumpkin pie? I made a traditional pumpkin pie and put chopped nuts on top when there's about 10 mins left in the oven.

I found an old Watkins 1930s recipe for a pumpkin/banana custard. That book is gone, but if you'd like to try it on camera, I'd love to see if you thinks it's a good idea. I can't remember how much of anything goes into it.

Hey Hey Hey That recipe was so simple, and the ingredients are healthy. Bobby Kennedy would approve. I've never had pecans on pumpkin pie, but it looks great, even better with ice cream. But that chocolate pound cake is still embedded in my mind. Now that would make a great Christmas gift.
