Dear Vickie, I love the music you add to your videos! It is good to watch the master do the packing. I am a new seller, and it helped a lot to watch your moves and learn how to estimate the shipping costs and cut on weight and dimensions to reduce the costs. Thanks to you and Mark!

Yes, free service and easy to connect/import sales from ebay (even if you have more than one ebay store). I love that PirateShip keeps ALL our records and we can run reports for taxes. Plus, we use our credit card (pay off monthly) and get points on our card for gift certs for restaurants. It's a win-win for us. NOT sponsored. Thank you Betty!

Thank you Vickie. Another educational video. Here’s how I determine weight and size of box. First I pre-wrap my item in foam, small bubble wrap and a clear garbage bag. This is so the item does not break in storage or get dusty. I have one sample box of each size. I also have a sample roll of large bubble wrap and a shipping label with my thank you sticker on it. Plus if I’m using fragile or glass stickers I have some as a sample. This way I can figure out the box I’m going to use and set the item in the box and the other packaging stuff mentioned. I have an accurate weight. I also have a notebook with every single item I have listed with the weight, size of box and a number that goes on my item. When I place that item in storage ( I use boxes). I have a number on the box. This is written on my notebook. I know this might take some extra time, my store has a little under 1,000 listings. For me it works. I never have to worry about going under on shipping, I’ve never broke, sent the wrong item or lost an item. Every once in awhile a buyer will ask me a specific question about an item. I can answer because I use masking tape and can unwrap the item if I need to. I also use my eBay quarterly coupon for boxes and have found a box company near me that sell hundreds of different size boxes. If I spend $200 or more they will ship for free. Last order was one year ago and I still have a lot of boxes. I buy my bubble wrap on eBay in large quantities. I’ve found it costs less. Luckily I have the room to store all of it. I buy everything else on Amazon and have used your links.

Thanks for your videos! I have had to make many boxes over the years selling some large and odd shaped items. The best way I have found to make a box like that fit is to cut each side lengthwise and then push together. It does make the box a little heavier but also adds some extra protection.

Hello, recently I shipped a package and the customer wanted it to go ground advantage. I always ship ground advantage usually but since the package was over 5lb. it was cheaper to mail USPS Priority Flat rate. My question is can you send the packages using the best delivery possible to save on the shipping overage cost? Also, you mention you use Pirate Ship for mailing labels under 1lb. EBay always asks you to buy a label after purchase from them for the tracking number. Since starting with eBay I have only used eBay labels, previously I was using Pirate Ship with great success. Thank you for your great KZbin videos they have been so helpful.
@AvanteAvenue5 ай бұрын
It's best to always send via the "carrier" that the buyer chooses...unless it is an "upgrade" from GA to PR. In other words, never send a buyer requested PR via GA. It's always about the buyer's preference and not us, the seller, saving money. We ship everything via ebay unless it falls at exactly 1 pound. Then, we use ebay. All other packings are PS labels. We find it very convenient and it's connect to our ebay stores. All of our info is saves and we run a report at year end for our shipping costs for our taxes. Hope that helps and thank you Vicki!
@bearchay8898 ай бұрын
I sell a lot of stuff less than a pound and media so I just toss up a general weight for those because the media mail goes by pounds. With everything else I try to pre weigh like you did and then give myself an educated guess on how much my packing will be. Most of the time i'm pretty close. I do use one thing that I haven't seen that many people use. I came into a lot of movie posters years ago and have been selling them off over time like over ten years. I buy big sturdy tubes to ship them in. The company that sells them only seems to sell on amazon and not directly so I can't get the exact size I need. So I get the next size up and it always leaves me with tube bits. I have shipped tons of smalls in the tubes. I rarely have and trouble with them either. I do get funny feedback sometimes, because the people aren't expecting it.
@AvanteAvenue8 ай бұрын
Thank you for sharing. I am curious, how do you wrap the shipping label on the tube so that it doesn't overlap itself? Thank you!
@bearchay8898 ай бұрын
@@AvanteAvenueI use 3 inch diameter tubes. Before I bought a thermal printer I would just reduce the size of the label when I printed it and that worked too.
@kathleenkolendra34638 ай бұрын
You had mentioned the box size doesn’t matter that much. I thought both were factors in the price. Could you explain please.
@AvanteAvenue8 ай бұрын
Small boxes don’t matter. Thanks Kathleen!
@trishowens-g1b8 ай бұрын
Really enjoyed the video. I have a dumb question! I still have problems with shipping and sometimes loose money. I tend to be off on the amount I quote to buyer. I'm assuming having the eBay boxes with measurements on the box helps. I'm going to start using eBay to print my labels, hopefully this may help me. 😢
@AvanteAvenue8 ай бұрын
You've got this. Take the time to weigh the item when listing like I did in this video. Round up as needed. When listing an item, estimate 2-3 inches around it for fragile items when deciding on your box size. The box dimensions can be found on the bottom of boxes. Look for 32ECT on the bottom to make sure you have a sturdy box and NOT an internal shipping box that is not meant for shipping by itself. Aside from USPS boxes, most all boxes are marked with the ECT and box dimensions. Printing ebay labels or labels from Pirate ship....doesn't really matter. But since you're new, using ebay labels will probably simplify for you. It gets easier and easier over time. Thanks!

I typically purchase mine from Staples but the Staples in my city recently closed and I am running extremely low. I get used boxes from family and friends but I always like to have new boxes on hand. Just curious where you feel is the best place to purchase a variety of boxes? Thank you for all you do!! ~Tammy
