It can feel like the hardest thing in the world to accept the situation we're in. Listen to what we believe to be true.

Excellent video! I've been struggling with self acceptance for a long time re aging, my body, how I look etc and your video has helped a lot. We are bombarded with images telling us what we should be everyday through advertising and social media that we forget and compromise who we truly are. Thank you for this reminder

Extremely helpful - I am 70 and for a very long time I looked acted & felt much younger than most! Now old age has caught up with me as the past 15 years have been extremely tough & rough. I accept its helped to speed up the aging process which I accept! So why cant those close to me, instead of all the expectations of others?😕Thankyou so much ⚘

Hi there, I just discovered you guys though a link on F.E.A.S.T. I've been searching for other people who's can offer hope and encouragement in coping with caring for a loved with AN. I recently found I had a brief experience of radical acceptance and at the time did not know it to be this. It wasn't until talking to my therapist about it that she was able to explain what I had experienced (and point me in the direction of Tara Brach). I had (still do) struggled with the idea of acceptance. I felt confused about the idea of accepting my child as she is now and not how I want her to be - all bit that vision a recovered one! Why would I not want that?? It's such a simple yet tricky thing to embrace and feel deeply. Today I had that feeling of hope and encouragement when I listened to you talking about RA in what, more than often, feels like a war with your loved one and yourself. I had felt sure when I glimpsed it that it was the way forward and I'm happy to hear you confirm that feeling. Thank you.

@@RecoveryFromWithin Hi Rebecca, thank you for your reply. I will stay in touch and would very much like to have a conversation sometime. I'm newish to you tube - I know i'm a dinosaur...... you mention in your reply that your contact details are in the comments. Does that mean I can start a conversation with you here or in another way? I have many feeling about how best to care for my loved one at the moment and some of it is difficult to articulate as it's just creeping to the surface of my awareness. It would be great to chat to you about some of these less tangible ideas to aiding recovery in a loved one and essentially finding a new way of being as a family. Emma x

This is what in struggling with... accepting that i am addicted and also accepting the withdrawal and in my case depression that comes with quitting... i keep fighting against it / getting angry and frustrated and it makes no sense. This fighting the unwanted is something that most humans seem to do? Could it be an old survival mechanism?
@RecoveryFromWithin

Hi Elin, there's a quote from Glennon Doyle in her book Untamed that comes to mind. She says, 'it's hard not because you're doing it wrong, it's hard because you're doing it right.' I don't know if you find that helpful. It's in acknowledging the situation that we get to see something different. And you're right, fighting the unwanted is what most humans do. Sadly the thing we're fighting will always find another way to keep the fight going. What if acknowledging it gives it the chance to move on? Rebecca x

No such thing as addiction so why accept it? No such thing as depression so why accept that? Accepting these things will just keep you stuck in them. Ask your self where the anger comes from? Therein lies your freedom.

@RecoveryFromWithin
@RecoveryFromWithin Жыл бұрын
No tools as such as that could take us further away from embracing ourselves fully. What I've done in the past is to sit and be with the feelings and know that my mind/thoughts are telling me that I need to 'work on myself'. We are enough just as we are.
