The ending tried to copy the first twist ending of the original novel, where Ulysse and Nova, along with their infant son, arrive back on Earth only to find that the apes have taken over (in the original novel, the astronauts really do go to a planet ruled by apes, instead of into Earth's future as was the case in the movies).
@UltimateGamerCC4 жыл бұрын
definitely, Tim Burton does his homework when remaking things, he did the same with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory where he kept it more to the book, rather than the original movie.
@TheNitroG13 жыл бұрын
ah but the trouble with that is the movie clearly demonstrates that time travel happens at the beginning and the end. The ship he leaves from is the same ship that has been crashed on the planet for 1000's of years already by the time he arrives. the apes and humans that are on the planet already are descendants from the crew and monkeys that were on the ship he departed from. Clearly in order for the ending to happen at all the apes must have mastered space travel long after he left and went through the wormhole arriving further back in the past than mark walhberg did easily conquering the planet with weapons that wouldn't be invented for 100 years and remaking everything in their own image. they would have had to arrive after the washington monument and lincoln memorial were built but that just means it's after 1920. what a lot of people overlook is he does arrive in earths past and not the time that he left from originally. As an example lets say that he left in the year 2200 earth time, he arrived on the planet of the apes in the 1800's earth time. he left the planet of the apes in the 1800's and arrived back on earth in the early 2000's, but that's still 200 years before he was even born. the apes became a space fairing race in the 1900's and left their planet, but as demonstrated in the movie the later something enters the storm the further back in time it goes so they arrived decades before mark. the same way he had arrived before the monkey that entered the storm before him.
@joshuariddensdale21263 жыл бұрын
@@TheNitroG1 Both the original novel and the opening of the Charlton Heston movie do explore this phenomenon. Time passes at different rates on Earth than it does in space. For example, ship's time would be three months, but 300 years would pass on Earth. The Destiny trilogy of Star Trek novels also goes into this. Traveling at near light-speed would take 100 Earth years, but only six months would pass on the ship. Time travel is a complicated thing.
@joshuaallgood70303 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but they used time dilation and the fact that they were traveling at the speed of light to explain it. No wormholes necessary.

Recognizable titles sell tickets, anger generates media attention and nostalgia creates defenders. It's quite a solid scheme since most people aren't all that scrutinous about quality. It's a shame really, since they're pumping tons of cash into productions anyway, they might as well make good movies, but alas the focus groups are king in high-budget productions.

From what I understand, studios are cautious to risk anything that's uncertain. So it makes more financial success to go with something that was a hit than something that might not work. Just my two cents.

the ending would have been better if he landed on earth to find that the apes were already starting to take over in not sure what the exact reveal scene would be, may be him landing in a Forrest only to be attacked by a more primative band of intelligent apes and then get rescued by a rag tag team of humans maybe one of his astronaut friends.it would bring the movie full circle and help set up a sequel based on the conquest of the planet of the apes, wahlberg would return home only to realize he had been on earth the whole time and everythibg he worked for was for nothing, and that the takeover of the apes was inevitable that would be a real mindfuck

Ariel Mc fangirl Mendez The new planet of the apes trilogy was a prequel/ origin story of how the apes took over and the names used are clearly trying to say that this was for the 1968 version (there's a lot more parallels such as the Simian Flu causing humans to lose the ability to speak with the Tim Burton film doesn't have) and the trilogy was done very well. Hollywood is out of ideas and reboots are becoming common place (especially with Disney now, with just aggravates me to no end) but I'm under the impression you thought the new trilogy was a reboot of the Tim Burton version?

What counts as nostalgic imo is any entry within a pre-established franchise (sequel, prequel, spin-off, remake, reboot, etc) that fits in directly or indirectly with the universe & source material of the original. I personally would consider everything from *Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers (1995)* to *Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003), Friday the 13th (2009), Elm Street (2010), Prometheus (2012), Jurassic World (2015)* and so on as nostalgic, because they all connect to nostalgic series. Provided it directly references a property I first experienced in childhood and clicks with me as a fan, I don't need it to have existed only in the time of my youth. Therefore, I don't care when Doug reviews current films or shows. What constitutes nostalgia can't be 100% reduced to numbers and can be different for everyone, depending on the topic. As long as the soul of *Nostalgia Critic* remains about celebrating & critiquing nostalgia (no matter its form), I'll look forward to it.

Fun fact about the ending: according to Tim Burton, the ending wasn't supposed to make sense. He wanted to end this movie on a nonsensical cliffhanger because he wasn't interested in returning for a sequel.

Think about how insane that would be to find the universe that has roman architecture and a monkey that sits and has hair just like abraham lincoln. 1 in a quadrillion odds...
@shoubhiksen35493 жыл бұрын
I thought that in this movie, time moves opposite on the other side of the wormhole Like Pericles the monkey went in first and Wahlberg later, but Wahlberg arrived on Ape Planet before Pericles So Wahlberg enters the wormhole first and then future apes must've perfected space travel and found earth........so according to that logic, those apes will come to earth first (millions of Years ago) and took over and built civilizations Wahlberg came later

Stonersloth Hughes The joke is that white people are better off than everyone else in the U.S., and thus have the most time to do inane things like review bad movies for the Internet. Doesn't represent reality really, as there are plenty of poor white people who don't have the time or the ability to review movies and do improv like Doug. Hence why it's just a short joke.

So let's speak in a serious tone here. That Uzi would not work. It's been in a case full of sand for, what, 3000 years? Yeah, no, that shit would jam in a second, if any of the inner workings still actually worked. I mean, fuck, my M16 stopped working after one week out in the field since I neglected to clean it. So you want me to believe that this gun would work after 3000 years of being in sand? No.

Frisbee I mean, if any gun could do it, it's the uzi TheFirearmBlog even made a video about it. Top 5 most reliable guns, I believe. Kind of a shocker that the Galil beat the AK.
