18:11 on Mac you can also use the Audio MIDI Setup program to set up an internal MIDI Device port on your IAC Driver, and then use that as an output in a DAW like Ableton to control your Live Buttons with midi in sync with your live set.

Love the Tutorial! Please do a tutorial on how you incorporated the Freedom Pars wirelessly, and the Spots with the D-Fi Hub (The D-Fi Hub & Freedom Par settings) with ShowXpress. I have the Intimidator spots & the Freedom Pars Quad 4s IP, I'm running my up-lighting (Pars) strictly with Flarecon and my other lighting with a DMX Controller. I'm a total novice at ShowXpress and would love to run my wireless Pars and other lighting solely with ShowXpress. Can my Flarecon be used like the D-Fi Hub to accomplished this or do I need the D-Fi Hub? Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think ShowExpress is going to work well for a new DJ system I'm designing and assembling. Three universe setup, house - stage - dance floor. Primary market will be wedding receptions. House Universe will be uplighting, cake & gift table, exits. Stage Universe will be overhead DJ console, backdrop, internal console lights, and perimeter lights around tripods. Dance Floor will be the truss system for the dance floor.

This was an awesome tutorial! I have a question.....I have 4 moving heads that I bought from China that I use for my band with a typical Orcontrol DMX controller. They work fine with that but would you happen to know if there is a like a generic moving head profile in the ShowXpress software. I really want to go computer control for our light tech but I'm just afraid I won't be able to use the movers in ShowXpress. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Yes please. Although there may be others out there too. From what I understand it would be "Plug in your midi controller into the same computer", but I don't know if it needs a driver for the midi controller. Maybe manufacturer of the controller would know?

What software are you using to program the lighting fixtures? Do you still need a physical DMX Console when you're using that software in your laptop? Is there a special device that you connect from your laptop so that you can connect and manipulate the lights? Does the software include other manufacturers' brands of light other than Chauvet products? Such as TomTop, Blue Sea Lighting, V-Show, etc. And are there pre-programmed "templates" of sequences, so that it will be easier and less hassle for those who are struggling to make their own, including me? Thanks and I got something from this full-packed vlog though it was too fast for me since English is not my native language.

Several questions in there - But I use chauvet show express and with that you only need the "Interface" not a full controller.

Hey Brandon, I have a pair of 90w led moving head spot 16 channel & can't find the profile in fixtures for them..manual I have says the company name is FYl which isn't in the list of manfactures. lost on finding a profile that will work with these lights & have no clue how to make my own profile for these lights using ShowXpress.

the functions should be in the manual of the light, it is as simple as selecting the function in the software and assigning it to a channel for the light.

Hey man! Great vid. Wish I'd seen this before I stuffed around with my program for /b*countless*/b hours. Although I got where I needed to be, you showed me some ways to "stack" my scenes which would make things a great deal easier - save me reprogramming scenes over and over! Well, you'd need to go looking for instruction manuals on an Obey 10, and look for videos on that. Also, what type of par cans? However once you have it set up, programming is almost as easy as using the ShowXpress in my opinion.

I am using the FlareCon Air instead of a dedicated D-Fi Hub. I can't seem to get my two Hex 4 fixtures to talk to ShowXPress / the FlareCon Air. I am waiting to hook up my two Hybrid 140SR until the other two work. What settings should I be using? What could I be doing wrong?

It just uses the folder structure of your operating system, so YES. There may already be one there. It helps to keep your fixtures in one spot (main folder + sub folders)

Are you still looking for an answer to this question? I may be able to assist if I had more information. I think it may be in his video. If I have it right, you program the lights and buttons individually, controlling only the sliders you need for each light. So select only one light - Button 1, Light 1 on at position X,Y. Do same for Button 2, light 2. Let me know if it helped

Mot reading the manual correctly.....? More than likely the fixture is not programmed / patched right. Is the correct chanel mode set on the fixture? Any other number of reasons... Not enough info here to sort you out.

It's extremely important that you do not activate any other channels you plan on having live buttons for when creating the scenes. If you do, the active button in the scene setting will cancel out your live button. Even if the fader is green (lit) and not moved up, this will cancel any live movement.

Hey Brandon great vid! I patched the fixture and it gave me an address so I put the address on the hex 4 that show express gave me using channel 12 mode. im using a D-Fi Hub to transmit signal and it gives me 1-16 Channels that I can choose from and I pair them both on channel 1 Transmit and Receive. D-Fi hub is connected to the show express box so it will transmit signal to the lights but for some reason the light doesn't seem to work that way so I plugged it directly from the show express box to the light and I still don't get it to work. could you to tell me the settings you used for your uplights?
