The wrinkle paint won’t get any better unfortunately. 1 coat, heat gun, wait to wrinkle, let cool. Repeat that 3-4 times and it’ll look like your intercooler pipes 👍🏼 have you also thought about lower intercooler pipe routing with the AC line? You can also drill the spot welds out and remove the old battery tray to tidy the bay up. Done this on my evo 5

As a previous DSM and Evo owner I can completely empathize with you on the tight spaces. It's funny, the clearance issues never bothered me until someone mentioned it to me (at least on a 2G DSM) how tight the engine bay was. There isn't much I look forward to on KZbin, but always excited to see how this build is going, keep up the great work bud, really appreciate the tedious work of being the camera man and talent at the same time.

Love the build doing something very similar with my GTiR Pulsar, and can definitively appreciate tight inlet plumbing. Just a word of note: Speaking as a Mine Ventilation Engineer: That electric fan is set up as a pusher (looking at the blade shape.) If possible, I'd spin the blade around inside the housing. Axial fans spun in reverse rotation to their design typically lose ~50% of their performance (pressure and volume.) Regards Jordan

So I've used that wrinkle black paint on my intake pipe, and on my valve cover. On the intake pipe, if you look at the instructions on the back (which I'm sure you have lol), it says you can bake it in the over to drastically speed up the cure process. Putting it in the oven to bake compared to letting it cure via air drying changes the finish, a lot lol. My intake pipe looks like your charge pipes there, whereas my valve cover, while it looks cool, doesn't look exactly like my intake pipe. But BOY, does it stink up the area you have an oven! And clean clean clean it after lol! I'm sure you've already figured something out by now, but just thought I'd share my experience!

I am in the middle of setting up my own shop at the moment and just started to order equipment before the lockdown happened here in the UK, so it's mostly on hold at the moment. I think you'll eventually be using a full size battery unless you start the car every day. I learned the hard way. Order a Taylor stainless steel or aluminum battery box and relocation kit. Put it in your trunk and have the benefit of a full size battery. Plus you can wire the fuel pump with a relay directly to the battery with some nice heavy Guage wire. Having cams means you need some cranking amps. Some days you just need to feather that throttle to get that puppy to fire, have a battery stick with you is important.

Having the turbo so close to the radiator... Seems like you are going to have massive heat management issues to the point of boiling water... Or am I wrong? No, you are over estimating the amount of heat that will be generated. The water will never boil and the turbo area has air flow coming through the rad which will also help.
