I’ve actually need experimenting with softer brake settings. The paradigm in sim racing is to go as hard as possible. But a softer solution with more travel gives the brain much more resolution to play with. At least my brain it does. This makes threshold braking much more precise. Give it a shot.
@chepilevski2 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean and I agree with you totally! The last 2 weeks I change to soft to see how it will go and for now I enjoy it a lot ! Will stay for 4 more weeks like that and check the end results !
@rayaguilar90852 жыл бұрын
@@chepilevski That’s interesting to hear! I know part of your goal is to merge the feelings between a real race car and your rig so that the sim is more realistic. But sometimes I think to myself, “Wait, this isn’t real. So what do I want an uncomfortable or harsh solution in my rig, just because real life racers have to put up with it?” As an example, I doubt they make racing braking pedals so hard because it’s easier for the driver. It’s probably just a requirement for that type of braking system, rotors and pads. Another good example is I doubt a formula driver really wants such an uncomfortable seat and bad visibility. That’s just the shape it has to be for aero. I mean, we don’t turn off our air conditioners in the sim to simulate heat stroke right? 😅 Then I think about bench pressing at the gym. If I bench press just the bar, I am able to use fine motor skills to push the bar wherever I want in multiple directions easily. But if I put on max weights for me, I really lose all of that precise movement as the primary muscles take over and I can barely control it. So I started experimenting with a much software brake rubber in my HE’s that I found at a hardware store plus a little more preload than usual. Gives me more travel and I can more precisely hold peak brake pressure. I also coded a dashboard in simhub to track my peak brake pressure so I can visibly see what percentage I hit. Much more consistent now. I just hope my unscientific science is right :)
@WhippyWhipGaming2 жыл бұрын
@@rayaguilar9085 if you watch any gt3 car with a foot cam in real life they have a lot of travel, even more than my road car does
@rayaguilar90852 жыл бұрын
Omg @@WhippyWhipGaming you are right. Finally one of my theories might be right 😜! Watching some vids of several gt3 drivers feet they have INCHES of pedal travel. Maybe they have to press hard, but I bet they don’t have to press too hard to get say 60% pressure. I only have real life experience in skip barbers and some Porsche track cars. Albeit not a lot. But those had a reasonable amount of travel and from my memory, they weren’t too hard or soft. So, if this is the case, why are manufacturers and reviewers of sim gear advising that the harder you make the pedal the better it is? I don’t think it’s anything evil. I just bet they are trying to mimic a specific type of braking system in one car. Then once the first pedal makers did it, now they all do it. They’re not considering muscle and brain resolution from feel. We’re in a sim. It uses potentiometers and load cells and microcontrollers… Not pads and discs and heat. I bet a better solution for sim racing is to have a pedal with probably double the travel that gets progressively harder as you push it until it gets to about 75%. Then starts to exponentially get more firm to 100%. I’m gonna try it. On the preload side, it is usually controlling the dynamic stiffness of the pedal. Basically where the pedal firmness starts for the stroke. So really you just need it to be soft enough where you can take up the initial spring pressure and that equates to like 7%-13% pressure for trail braking alone so you don’t have to think about it. Hmm. I gotta do some experimenting and write this stuff down somewhere. Poor Asetek. They made an entire sim racing pedal set based on a flawed premise ☹️

Hey buddy, it will be very hard choice. I tested ones the Asetek and having low expectations I was very pleasantly surprised how they felt ! Simagic are also great but those are not exactly hydraulic but give that sweet feeling with the dual pump system and looks awesome! The Cube Controls SP-01 have the best brake feeling in my opinion with that mix of spring-elastomers and bumper kit ! They really have awesome feeling but the throttle as I’ve said is mediocre in feeling and very expensive considering they have no clutch but also esthetically they are really beautiful 😃 From all those at the end of the day I still prefer to use the ImSim Talento with those huge plates as they are the most comfortable overall! Hard choice buddy as you already come from good set of pedals 🙈

Great review! Only one thing, is there anything to be said about maintenance? Like what fluid, or any spots that should be cleaned / greased more often?
@Simlife1012 жыл бұрын
@Simon H yes. the gas pedal starts to feel less smooth and moves in segments so you need too keep oiling it. The brake pedal is simple and nothing too do but the clutch feel horrible. The clutch bite doesnt feel nice at all, i also came from heusinkveld pro pedals and ive took the simagic clutch off and im using the HE pro one. The brake is amazing and what your paying for really.
@chepilevski2 жыл бұрын
Oh bro , how didn’t had those problems till now but I will definitely contact you wen they arrive 🤛
@voongnz2 жыл бұрын
As for the hydraulic brake, I don't see the need for fluid change as you're not gonna see high temps and break down the oil and absorb moisture. If for some reason it does need changing, a dot3 or dot4. For anything else, lubrication at the pivot points with silicone as with any other pedal set should do good.

There is no difference and what can be achieved with 200kg load cell can be achieved exactly the same with 100kg ! That is more about pedals design and what load can be set to the actual pedal plate ! It is just geometric matter!

@Race Beyond Matter Hi Mate I think me and you both have our springs set up wrong so simagic tell me. When they ship they ship as blue spring goes on first then the softer yellow spring but for some reason you and me both changed it too Yellow first then Red but yellow is the softest so it should go last. I noticed when messing having the hardest spring on last meant it never compresses. I changed mine and now it feels MUCH better. If you go too 2:03 of this video you show how the pedals arrived. See how the harder spring goes on first set up from factory? They put the blue harder spring on first then the yellow softer spring, as the spring strength goes from softest to hardest as Yellow,blue,red then hardest being green. Can you ask Simagic your self and see what they tell you. Cheers mate

@Race Beyond Matter Great Review, just one question... it is hard to see on the video, is there some kind of "pre travel" (simulating the pad to disc gap on a real brake) on the break pedal like there is on the HE if you use the spring on the brake pedal? And if there is, is it adjustable on the simagic?
@chepilevski2 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean and not buddy! The loadcell is directly attached to the springs and as you touch the pedal you start applying brake force immediately! You can creat that gap with the software applying death zone but the pressure will be linear not as the pros with soft gap and then hard pedal !
