The level of attention he gives his students is simply amazing. Kudos to coaches like this

Chewy, these videos with coaching are invaluable. As someone who can only train once a week I really appreciate your videos, they keep my learning and my passion going.

We're going over the foot slide escape technique this week. I watched the video before class and came back to it after for a review. I think it helped me get the technique down quicker. I like the coaching as well. It shows some of the common mistakes us white belts are bound to make. I also agree with the Peter M: the music level should drop when you are coaching.

Nice! You might consider lowering the music volume a little during the moments you're talking to your students. Otherwise, very helpful!

I am a white belt with about a month of training now and it's starting to click just how important hip movement is. Thanks!

I keep getting stuck on bottom with my partner in mount. He holds my sleeves so I can't work my hands and he's heavy as hell. He knows all I can use are my feet and legs at that point and seems to be prepared. How do I escape this?
@Sashark317 жыл бұрын
looks good but the question I have is that while you are using both hands down by his hips what is to prevent your opponent from going for the collar chokes?
@5150macro7 жыл бұрын
It's not something that you sit and wait on with your hands in that position. You will be actively trying to improve your position. If they try and choke you, you will need to address that attack and defend your neck. If they are attacking you that can open up other ways to escape.
@brandonswan92477 жыл бұрын
Whenever people go for my neck they are removing their arm for base. I trap their same side leg with my foot and attempt to roll them. This will either get you on top or it will off balance them enough that they abandon the choke to base.
@Chewjitsu7 жыл бұрын
If you stay there too long. But the goal is that you want to move very quickly. So you should't be in the position for more than a couple of seconds. And if the person doesn't attempt to combat your escape they'll lose their dominant position.

How do you do it when both of his feet are touching under behind your thighs?
@santianzo28617 жыл бұрын
Hey coach, I have a question, would you allow a person to train with no gi? If they told you they are not interested in using it. Cause that is my situation right now.
@santianzo28617 жыл бұрын
Joey Dymarcik so you are saying that Bjj cant exist without the gi?
@santianzo28617 жыл бұрын
Joey Dymarcik the thing with the gi is that I feel like it is kind of cheating to fight grabbing the gi. When women have a street fight, they grab each other's hair. I feel it is kind of the same thing here. Have you ever seen someone practicing Bjj with no gi while the others were with the gi?
@santianzo28617 жыл бұрын
Joey Dymarcik thanks a lot for all the feedback, I will def take into consideration all you have said.

I once got into a street fight (My brother got into a fight with his ex's new boyfriend) While my brother fought the guy he started the fight with. I ended up fighting a guy that was with him. a big fat who was taller than me. While I managed to get three punches in, he ended up tackling me the floor and mounting me. He started punch my face and I tried to get him off of me but he was too fucking heavy. He would have probably fuck up my face if my brother haven't kick him in the face to get him off of me.

The weights dropping every 3 seconds really took away from the great technique you were teaching ...drove me nuts 😩
@chrisrob72765 жыл бұрын
Poor example.. Problem is to escape from bigger opponents and you use a SMALLER guy? I need some idea how to get out of 275-300 pound guy who gives me hardly enough space to breathe let alone bump my hip.

I have a several smaller guys in my gym (130lbs) who use the escape just fine. *Shrugs*
