My mom’s old sugar cookie recipe also has cream of tartar, and it definitely gives an important flavor!

This brought back wonderful memories of my sweet mom who, like you Jennifer worked hard and took so much care making Christmas treats for our family. She has been gone for almost 35 years now and I still miss the love she put into making Christmas so special for us. It warms my heart watching you do the same for your family.❤

Spritz cookies make me miss my mom because she was a QUEEN of all the tips for best Spritz results (and also Peanut Brittle, Divinity Style Frosting, Tender-Crisp Sugar Cookies and Swedish Flatbread) but never a Bossy-Boots. I need to purchase a Spritz g*n for my daughter since I know my Grands do enjoy these tasty, tiny cookies and it is so fun to make them with them. Spritz cookies translate so easily to gluten free. Today is my dad's 89'th Heavenly Birthday and being too rainy Mom would not have been able to bake his Divinity-Style-Frosted Coconut Cake. My sister is going to take a coconut cake cupcake to their headstone in a few days in remembrance. Some years when Mom didn't feel up to baking as they aged, she'd buy him a Pepperidge Farm frozen coconut cake which he absolutely adored almost as much as her home-baked cake. I nearly bought one this year. Dad would have been 89 today. I'll save those calories for next year to celebrate his 90'th (Heavenly, God willing) birthday. We are Catholic too so I always pray for he and Mom to gain their Heavenly reward.

The cookies look great. Recently my mom gave me a cookie press similar to yours. It was my grandma's. She died when I was 5, so literally one of the only memories I have of her is helping her make peanut butter blossoms. I was so excited to get that press. And making cookies really is making memories :)

I have made the candy cane cookies for over the last 50 years. My family love them. Have some powder sugar on the counter top and roll the dough ball in the powder sugar then roll like a snake on the counter top then place on cookie sheet and twist the red and white snakes together.

Just a little tip for the Lasagna. If you whisk an egg in with the cottage cheese before you put it in the lasagna, it won’t be so runny when you serve it. That’s what I do and my mom always did it also
@denisescott39432 күн бұрын
Here in SA we use a thick cheese homemade in our lasagna never tried cottage cheese.

@ I use ricotta but many midwestern people use cottage cheese
@annesullivan56402 күн бұрын
I also always mix in an egg with the cottage cheese . And if my cottage cheese is very liquid I drain it.
@vickihill4777Күн бұрын
We do that too. Also add a 1/4 tsp of nutmeg. It sounds odd but it’s delicious
@lorimorgan7068Күн бұрын
To make it less runny, my Mom always made a four cheese lasagna using an equal combination of ricotta cheese and cottage cheese, some parmesan cheese, an egg , and dried parsley. Of course with as much mozzarella as you want! I have always made it this way also😊

Darn, missed your Premiere. Feel sorry: I was at Costco w/Christmas returns and shopping. Blech! Lately I've binge-watched sweet older videos seeking your cinnamon candied pecan footage for tips. (Haven't found it, did you film it?) They were yummy but came out clumpy and it must be faulty technique. It hasn't been Christmassy here--warm and rainy (?!) no snow. Yes a package of lasagna noodles used to be longer also had 16 noodles and if you used all of them you were sure to have it swell up and over the lip of your pan and it would overflow. (The smell told everybody a delicious dinner was just about ready!) You should see gluten free lasagna 'sheets' they are so teeny and thin compared to gluten noodles. But at least we have them and I can make a safe lasagna for my daughter and her family. Remember your pork chop challenge? It would be fun to see your family's reactions to a ramen challenge. There are so many interesting hacks on the internet!

I get nervous when u break eggs straight into your mixture. I saw Becky do that once and the egg was bad. She lost her complete mixture.

We learned in home ec to always crack eggs into a separate bowl. I don't follow that rule very often.

Trying something different...would it help your channel if I broke up a too-wordy comment into multiples? I'll do it, hope it helps! Aw, Candy Cane cookies are a sentimental treat: a dear friend who is a 3x cancer warrior makes them every year. She didn't have the strength to bake this year so my heart warms to see yours, every time I seem them they are to me in her honor. Her name is Judy if you'd be so kind as to add her to your prayer list. (Insert...I'm tearing up now near the end of your video because yours look so much like hers and I know if she felt well she'd have made them this year too.) Dang, our good Father designed us women with too-active tear ducts!
