Chrome OS for CB looks better on tablets than mobile OS, or is it just me?

i didn't understand why tablets like galaxy tab S10 or Redmagic gaming tablet does'nt use chrome OS instead os android, anyway, android has a desktop mode now, so probably chromeOS will be discontinued =(, maybe because android is dependent from play store and chromeOS let you free to install linux apps
@franciscopina58814 ай бұрын
It looks better because it's a desktop os, but it also kills the android apps performance by keeping it on a "virtual machine" and even some apps are incompatible with chrome os.

I just ordered the 8 GB memory version for around $370 after some weekend coupons and an education discount a couple days ago. I've always wanted the Duet ever since the first one came out so I am excited for the ergonomic dream that I know this will be. I started off my Chromebook experience with the Lenovo C330 back when that came out and fell in love with the super-smooth user-experience of ChromeOS especially when paired with the 2-in-1 form factor. I genuinely believe nothing beats the ergonomics of a small / lightweight 2-in-1 Chromebook.

Disappointed that this isn't a Chromebook Plus model. I have both the original Duet and the Duet 3 and around the two-year mark had issues with both that forced me to upgrade. This time around however, I decided not to wait for this new model and decided to try a Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 instead. It's much pricier, but also much faster and DeX works great as a desktop OS replacement. I'm hoping that a faster, more powerful tablet will come along because I'd still prefer to use Chrome OS. I really wish there were more 10" and 11" options available.

Can I run Linux on this Chromebook?
@nordlyssrlys69453 ай бұрын
I just love the concept of a tablet with ARM CPU running ChromeOS bringing a big screen with more capabilities than an Android tablet which is not expensive as those high end Samsung tablets. These chromebooks have a built-in runtime for Android and Linux applications as well, which makes them more versatile. It's just a few clicks away and u can run many PC software ok ur tablet, although Android tablets can do that as well but u need more tinkering. But sadly Lenovo never released any of their Chromebook Duets in my country (India) ever since the original Chromebook duet that sold under the name of Ideapad Duet here. I know back then it sucked due to the old chipset, many people complained about it so I guess Lenovo stopped selling it here all-together. Too bad for me, I would buy this any time if it's available here instead of a Samsung tablet coz I just love variety in my device collection.

I'm using my Duet now and still like it, but I won't buy another one for a few reasons. I practically never use it in tablet mode. I always have the keyboard attached, so the removable keyboard adds little value. If I wanted to use it, I'd be out of luck because the touch screen started misbehaving, creating spurious touch events, at some point, and the only solution I found involved disabling the touch screen altogether. Since I rarely used it, disabling the touch screen didn't inconvenience me, but again, a tablet is pointless without a touch screen. More recently, the attachment between the tablet and the keyboard has become flaky, so I must fiddle with it to switch the tablet into keyboard mode when attaching the keyboard, and I expect at some point that fiddling won't work, and it'll be stuck in tablet mode which is useless. I've used it for several years, so I've gotten my money's worth out of the Duet, but my next Chromebook will be a conventional clam shell that doesn't require an easel.
@HP-in8pl4 ай бұрын
i came to that same thought myself. I realized i rarely ever use it in tablet mode. I prefer a clam shell traditional laptop chromebook that can flip into a tablet if needed. It's just much more useful and practical
@diwaalejandrogalvez7964 ай бұрын
Same thought because I feel that, like Windows and of course MacOS, ChromeOS isn't really built for touch inputs. I generally find it useless for Windows tablets/notebooks and Chromebooks to have touch screens. I never used it on my old ThinkPad, and I really don't like what Apple did on the Mac with their app-like interface (I still struggle with some menus on my MBA that runs the awesome Apple Silicon. I feel that a Snapdragon X-powered Chromebook would be great, but I'm shuddering at how expensive that will be.
