Its nice that the setting can adjust some of the issues here. There is more room for improvement imo. A dual motor system is def for advanced, experienced riders though. It should be marketed ae such. Someone with absolutely no experience with any ebike is going to end getting a dual motor ebike, get, seriously hurt, and then the bans & regulations will come. We need influencers like yourself to be advocates for being responsible in this space. It helps us all keep the liberties we have in the ebike relm. Also..... what about your setup ( the Citizen Cycle)? Your dual motor,independent steup is by far a better setup and superior to this. You should show that off more and show the difference between your setup and this. That would be a great video. Thank you for sharing. See you on the next one.

with cranking down the power on the lower Pas stages it's now quite safe and rideable... in my view on these dual motor setups they should have ASR or ESP .... compare front and rear wheel hall sensor speeds and if front tire slips then reduce current to the front engine should be quite easy if you use a dual controller

I almost don't want to admit it but using the settings like you do here is what I've been doing on my Cruiser to make it a little tamer when the need arises. I've only ever owned mid drive ebikes, and I've had very few rides on rear hub motor ebikes.. However, although very few rides and on pretty standard 250/350 wt motors, I must say that I was really quite impressed with the overall feel of hub motors. It's really quite a different experience, although ultimately the end result is the same... If that makes any sense?! What I'm trying to say is both systems feel remarkably different in many ways too! Hub motors are so much louder, they sound like the Milk Man is coming! But it's quite a low frequency sound and personally, I like it and it really doesn't bother me. The way they transfer their power to the road is very different feeling to mid drives too I think. The power transfer is far more direct I think, it's like when the motor is engaged by a push on the pedal, the motor launches itself forward immediately, whereas mid drives feel like they depend more on your input, they seem to respond, and are more sensitive, to your cadence and input nuances, so it's like the motor responds depending on, and after, your input. Hub motors seem to be designed more around the throttle, hence their more direct transfer of power. Personally, they're very different feeling systems but, as mentioned previously, the end result is the same, and I'd say that both systems are awesome and if you're new to ebikes, don't let this choice bother you, because you're going to be totally happy with either system. One little thing perhaps worth considering is that if you're ever likely to want to do some off road riding, that would be when I'd suggest going for a mid drive system, simply because the weight of the system is nice and central on the bike, which is exactly where you want it if you're mountain biking. Hub motors place all the weight at extreme ends of the bike, which affects your balance on the bike and will affect the handling in a manner that's not ideal when riding off road. But I've gotta say, dual super powerful hub motors are like nothing else! I recently had a go on a cheap Chinese brand, Shenghmilo, their S600 model I believe, which has 2 1000 wt motors, one in each hub, and I have to say that it was absolutely fookin amazing, the feeling of huge power and rapid acceleration was incredible and next level when compared to my 250 wt Bosch powered emtb. So, really, it's whatever floats your boat! Waffle over, thanks for glazing over!

How long do you intend to travel on those dinky batteries? A 60ah battery is needed for that kind of power
@jfly22492 ай бұрын
It would weigh over 150lbs, nobody wants that. You can get well over 100 miles if you ride it like a normal e bike. A 60ah bike like the piece of garbage Annioki bikes(the cheapest crap motors and no named cell batteries) will be really heavy, and Annioki’s case, really ugly. Who wants to be seen riding that monstrosity? Fire hazard? They must be cutting costs everywhere else to pay for the 60ah packs, garbage bikes.

I bought an E-Bike in 1998 made by Currie. 24 volts, 15ah batteries. 18 MPH top speed. I'm converting the old E-Bike to LIFEPO4 batteries to reduce weight. I just bought a small foldable 20" E-Bike, 750 watt motor, 48 volts. It goes around 28 MPH. I have changed the settings so 20 MPH is top-speed. Being old and previously badly injured by a Roofing Contractor, I'm being extra cautious. I would like to have this Predator in tamed down form.

This ebike is cadence sensor, not torque sensor? @6:24 I can hear the complainers shouting "foul" already! 😆 In your first video with this model, I was worried about wheel spin chewing up tires with the associated added expense of replacing them sooner, and also about batteries being depleted faster. Now I'm comfortable enough to consider actually buying one. Thanks for digging into the capabilities they've built-in, Citizen. One question remains in my mind .... changing all these settings can be done simply on the display screen, without the need for a smart phone interface?
@sledhead904Ай бұрын
Lord. 🤦 Screen no app Cadence no torque nor do u want torque Tires are 60-100 each depending on what you get. Of course you do not need to spin out everytime. But awd bikes have this characteristic under full power launchs. Lifts the weight off the front wheel so it spins.
@rayrussell6258Ай бұрын
@@sledhead904 thank you captain obvious about tire wear. lol I knew there'd be someone out there to complain 😉😄 (I'm joking) You probably didn't watch the whole video, since Citizen showed that tire spin can be basically eliminated in the settings for this AWD ebike. Added tire expense goes away, after that is done. I was not promoting torque, I prefer cadence although the ebike I own has torque -- at my age my leg strength is not what it used to be -- but I was recognizing that most "young" riders like the torque sensor and would complain. Am not sure if you were answering my question about changing settings or not, in your line "screen no app".
@sledhead904Ай бұрын
@rayrussell6258 there's no app it's all done on the screen. No I watched it all, of course with less power you can eliminate the spin but the point is MOAAARRR POWER 😂😂 Get one dude! They are a blast. If u don't need the front motor the rear drive bikes and range on them is wonderful

The mid has far more torque and is whisper quiet relative to the geared hub that I’m just too lazy to remove. And I would say that Harleys' suck. The Japanese bikes tend to be much better built, more reliable, etc. There are some Harley models that are decent as far as build quality and reliability, but overall, the Japanese bikes are much better in that regard. But yeah, I do agree that the Predator is overpriced for what you get. I think the Freedom though is decently priced, especially when compared to other ebikes. The nice thing about Ebikes over motorcycles (I have both) is no registration, no insurance, no oil changing, no expensive gas (in my Ninja I need to run premium), you can get as little or as much exercise as you want and still get places, less dangerous overall, can go places motorcyles can't go, and are MUCH quieter (which may be a major plus for the below as well). And since the Earth's magnetic field strength is weakening at an ever faster rate, I'm gearing up for an eventual collapse (due to Solar storms knocking out electrical grids). I can "refuel" my 44 mph E-bike with Solar panels. When the lights/electricity goes out, good luck with gas. It will be very limited, and ethanol blended gas gets dirty pretty quick. And even if you have a bunch of fuel saved up and stored ahead of time, you'll have to defend an obvious to others resource.

No. The stock tires have small and widely spaced tread knobs. The tire area between the knobs is thin and vulnerable. A couple of more rugged options for you are Vee Tire Huntsman and HEB Allscape. They weigh more, but they have a lot thicker contact area.
