Had one, gave it to a family member as a gift. 0 engine and corrosion trouble for 12 years! Two issues: wire got loose in the steering column that stopped the ignition from working and a window fell of its track. For 12 years I’d say it’s a pretty good deal.

Just done mine citreon c3 mk1 1.4 2005. Was on the original timing belt. It had only done 48000 miles. In 18 years.
@goldenultra7 ай бұрын
18 years is pretty good that's about 4000 miles every year. I think they can last as long as you keep engine misfires low and reduce cold starts by at least changing the spark plugs❤. Recommended to change the belt at 10 years, maybe they can keep on going for many years more as long as spark plugs have been changed. But I have heard some spark plugs are better at cold starts: DENSO K20TT NICKEL TT though mine is 2012 1.4i

You know what buddy im so glad you went over how important it is to make sure to lock both the camshaft and the flywheel when changing the timing belt! Im currently in the process of re timing the C2 1.1 2006 and upon locking the camshaft I was not able to lock the flywheel so I just made a mark and went off this put everything back on and now the engine is running rough and a slight tapping noise so clearly the crankshaft is not lined up correctly. Thanks for the video I will be making sure to lock both up to know 100% the job is spot on.

Just fitted an INA timing kit on my missus 2.0 hdi engine yesterday, similar crank locking hole and procedure and a plastic impellor I don't mind using the plastic ones if it's from a reputable company. Keep safe in all this madness Dave and keep up the good work!

It reminds me of my old 206, I used a L shaped Allen key in the crank. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah matt same idea. I think most people just paint mark everything on these but easy enough to lock

Hi my timing belt slipped which knocked my timing out So which would I pin first would it be the flywheel or the camshaft shaft pulley

Nice work there Dave, I've made the same flywheel holder tool for the Mini Cooper S but that's a lot easier to get too than what you where working on... 😂😂😂

Thanks my friend for the informativ tutorial. I have a question, i changed my waterpump like you describe everything, and to be exactly proof i marked the timing belt; I aligned the spanner pointer in between the position marking. Now my question: When i rotate the spinning wheel 4 rounds and set the ot points everything is alright like it has to be (spannerpointing is same). When i rotate the spinning wheel 2 rounds the spannerpointing is a bit more tensioned.. Is it normal? Or do i have a fail setting?? Can you please help me ?

Plastic impeller for me Dave (for the same reasons as you describe) I do mostly VAG stuff and always try to use genuine pumps where possible.

Dave I'm a bit off topic on this one but when or have you done a timing chain replacement on a VW 1.4tsi engine?
@davesterl2 жыл бұрын
Can't rem a 1.4 but defo a few 1.0 and 1.2 on the polos. Much the same only with a vvt on inlet
@leonardtaggart2 жыл бұрын
@@davesterl I think the 2009 1.4tsi was the vvti pulley as well.

I cant guarantee this is true and have never tried it myself but I did hear that if you pour a little water on it to see if the water stays on the surface or if it seeps into it. Again I don't know if that's true or what but sort of sounds logical.

ian, i missed this comment until now (23rd June). Watched that vid of the guy sailing solo, yeah carrick marina is popular together with the 11th century castle and sights. Carrick was the original port until the shipbuilding at Belfast took over. Largest dry dock in the world at one point, famous for the Titanic. We say 'it was alright when it left here'. Belfast Lough originally Carrickfergus Bay. Thanks for posting, Dave
