I've always enjoyed corn in clam chowder, but will try this recipe! The leeks are a great idea. Growing up in the Methodist Church, I learned to love all of the old hymns, but favorites to sing are Blessed Assurance, It is Well..., How Great Thou Art & many more. At 83, iI find it a bit sad that so many churches don't use the old music. At least I can sing to myself when I play my piano. Love you two💓!

Favorite hymns: I agree with you on "It is Well with my soul", but I'm also fond of "Be Still my Soul" and "What a Friend we have in Jesus.". As for the chowder - something I learned from my sister was to cook the bacon, onion and potatoes together - almost like hash browns before adding all the other ingredients. I like your use of heavy cream. We traditionally used evaporated milk. Yours looked terrific! Blessings, Janell PS - I was 7 when Kennedy died. It's the first big historical event I remember happening in my lifetime.

Oh I can’t wait to make this clam chowder. Your idea at Judah’s graduation party was hysterical. My favorite hymns are “How great thou are art”, “I’ll fly away”, “old rugged cross.” I wish I could find a church that still sang the old songs. I like some of the contemporary religious music but prefer the old ones.
@PaullaWells2 жыл бұрын
My favorite hymn is I'll Fly Away. I just love that one. My dad learned to play the organ even though he was not a piano player. Imagine that. In the south the best corn is peaches and cream. Check your local farmer's markets to find someone who grows that. It is such a sweet corn that you just can't go wrong. Before adding your taters and clams you might try an immersion blender to blend up the leaks and such to a smooth consistency. You might like that better.
