He has spoken about how exercise is an essential part of a heart-healthy lifestyle.
the key is to stay consistent with your training and find joy in moving your muscles, especially when you pass 40 and start losing fast-twitch fibers. Thanks for commenting! It's a shame that Clarence Bass feels the need to hurt animals when he can simply replace the calories from corpses and stolen cow's milk with vegan foods and soy milk and still maintain the same muscle mass. He probably isn't educated and hasn't watch Dominion Movement on KZbin yet. He probably doesn't know that vegan body builders exist (Nimai Delgato, for example) and if he did, he would most likely switch to a vegan diet, if he is a kind person who wants to protect animals and the planet. Eggs and milk come from cycles of violence where the baby boys are murdered at birth because they are considered "useless" in the milk and egg industries. (Google maceration of baby chicks). Consuming animal products is also devastating to the planet (see the latests Oxford Environmental study). Let me know if anyone is able to contact him, that I would like to get these messages to him so he can promote kindness and compassion going forward. Thank you. 🌱

Thanks for interviewing Clarence Bass. Amazing that he is still going strong at 87. I'm 55, and remember first seeing him in Muscle and Fitness back in high school. I've followed him over the years, including reading and benefitting from his books. Mr. Bass is a true healthy natural bodybuilder who has practiced discipline, consistency, and moderation over a lifetime and the results speak for themselves.💪

As far as the cheat-meals, he's got it nailed. I find there are foods I don't want to eat, like sugary snacks and junk food, and I can avoid them for months or even years, but if I slip and eat them out of tempations or to go along with a group, I will start to crave them - even once. I remember one time I avoided all sweets for about a year, and my girlfriend at the time made some apple tarts and put ice cream on it - and then without a day I was wanting to eat ice cream every day. Of if you avoid Cokes for a long time, if you drink one it tastes like the best thing in the world and you want to have it every day. Jack LaLanne was right about the processed and sugary foods - best to avoid them and try to get in the habit of avoiding them. This guy has mastered how to live - much respect to him.

I'm lucky that I don't crave sweets. I'm 63 years old and literally haven't had a soft drink since college. I just don't eat any sweets. That being said, my favorite cheat meal is a three piece fried chicken meal with all the sides. When I'm done with a piece of fried chicken, there isn't enough meat left on the bone to get ant's attention.

The problem with people who find it hard to keep their weight down is that they are addicted to food. This was/is my problem. Regardless of the diets that I followed they ended up with the same results. The only solution that worked for me (and still works) is intermittent fasting. I'm a food addict, guilty as charged. My fasting regime is to eat once a day on weekdays and twice a day on weekends.

I watch the calories, eat low fat and low sugar except coffee. Can't stand sardines... eat low fat beef, and a lot of whole milk. It has all the good stuff in it. The fat in the milk is calories. Hard to avoid sugar, it's EVERYWHERE. I don't drink.

Thank you for the video. This explains a lot for my condition compared to my brothers. There are 5 brothers, and I'm in the middle. I'm also the only one under 200lbs. I am 61, 5' 9", and 160lbs. My resting heart rate is in the mid 50s, my blood pressure is in the 120's over 70's range, and I am not on any medications for any conditions. What was amazing about this video was the list of his foods he always eats is exactly what I have in my refrigerator and cabinets. This is how I eat regularly. I also strength train 2 to 3 days during the week, and my wife and I are in a stair climbing group that meets every Saturday morning at one of several outdoor stair cases in our local community. We have also done a charity climb twice now at the US Bank building downtown, which is 75 floors. We have not had a problem during either climb, it was a celebratory mood afterwords with our team. As for diet, I don't drink, I don't smoke and I rarely have anything fried or too high in calories. Our anniversary this year was the only drink I've had from January 1st until today, March 11th (that includes New Year's, not a single drink). We went out to dinner, and we both had one drink, and the restaurant gave us a desert for our anniversary. Haven't had desert or a drink since. This isn't depriving myself, as I've been told before, this is how I have lived my life for the past 30 years. So I am not craving anything, or forcing myself to not eat or drink anything, it's just how I eat and drink every day.

@@redhammer1917I agree genetics is a big part of this. My wife and I were just talking about Jim Fixx, the runner credited with getting many into the fitness craze back in the late 70s. Unfortunately, he died from a heart attack at only 52 years old. Other runners / marathoners have been found with severe heart disease, as well. My surprise has always been how different I am from my four brothers. All from the same mother and father, all raised eating the same foods, in the same environment. And I am the middle child, so something switched on and off in our genes before, and then after, I was born. I don't know how else to explain it.

Followed him in the early 80's in Muscle and Fitness and Flex. Even bought one of his books. Have to admit, I'm jealous of his skin. Shit, I'm 63 and lost a little size beginning about at 60 years old after working out for 47 years. Hell, I'm dealing with crepey arms.

@George-hl2xm Everyone today talks about wanting more testosterone. I think, "Great! Race to the inevitable enlarged prostate. Then, I think, "Either these guys haven't experienced that yet or they don't realize that it's caused by lifetime exposure to testosterone and the longer they live the more likely they are to have an enlarged prostate. Here are some figures to consider: 50% of men between the ages of 51 and 60 and 70% of men aged 60 to 69 and around 80% of men over 70 years of age have BPH. So, if BPH is stalking, hunting and coming after you anyway, then why rush it or increase it? Spoiler alert! BPH totally sucks! Unless you desperately need testosterone, then I wouldn't even consider taking more of it.

Some good and a lot of bad with this one. Eggs and sardines - YES. Nuts, whole grains - NO! Yes, some people can eat some of the things he recommends, but the majority can’t. I didn’t hear anything about red meat, lamb, pork, bacon, etc. “Cheat meals” are simply avenues to returning to the Standard American Diet and falling off the wagon permanently! I’m glad it has worked for this man, but most Americans are much too insulin resistant to be regularly consuming nuts and ‘whole breads.’

I'm 63. If I may ... Clarence Bass has NEVER been fat or even above single digit BF%. It's genetics. He never won the Universe. Although he took several CATAGORY titles (legs & abs) in over 40's competitions in the 70's & 80's, the only OVERALL title he took was the AAU Past 40 Mr. America, short class. He's amazing without doubt, but he did & could never have won the U as he simply never had the size, as you can clearly see. Not taking anything away from Mr Bass, but not handing him unearned titles either, unlike this channel ~ who obviously don't know the difference between a squat & an overhead press
