@@user-t2l6h >worst designed, worst handling sports car ever built except for all those times that it performed better than the contemporaneous ferraris on the track and was overall a very well-performing in most race divisions it was in. look at the lap times and pole positions on the ferrari-porsche challenge at Zandvoort in the 90's, porsche 930 and 964 cars were performing consistently better. it was the bmw m3 that started giving porsche a run for their money and rightly so, but it couldn't compete with the turbo 911's for speed and acceleration. yes rear engine isn't a great design by any standard, but the magic of the air cooled 911 is that it still performed very well despite a lot of the weird designs and seemingly un-aerodynamic body. nowadays its barely a rear engine car, the 992 gen has shifted it up so much that is pretty much mid engine. and no, porsche did not build the boxster and subsequently the cayman because they wanted to make a better performing car, it was pretty much the opposite. they built the boxster because they were going to go bankrupt and had toyota re-design their production line (which was shit at the time) and forced them to offer a cheaper vehicle that still used a significant portion of the 911 parts. thats why the 986/987/981 gen used the same interior parts (aside from some very minor changes) and pretty much the same front end. porsche did not want the boxster to succeed (the car saved the company along with the cayenne) and always neutered the mid-engine platform. thats why it took the literal ending of the mid-engine ICE platform for porsche to put the 911 gt3RS components in the mid-engine platform, because otherwise who would buy a 911 gt3rs when I can get the mid-engine version?

Get the facts right, Hitler himself had 0 to do with the cars design anyway. On top of this I heard Porsche was hilariously difficult with Hitler and his men since they had serious disagreements but idk him so I can’t make any calls about his personality. But just don’t spread wrong information because someone will correct it and only you will look bad. Lastly, I think the design was taken from Tatra. Also the rear engine design isn’t new. It’s basically mid engine but you can add back seats to it or extra space.

@@kinnexion I agree with the i8 being boring and definitely not as cool as a 911 but the i8 is 7+ years old, and does a 11.9 sec 1/4 time, that’s faster than a V10 R8 5.2 of that generation, the i8 is far from slow, what you mean is, slow for its looks. The point of the i8 was never to be a sports car anyway, it was an economic car (91mpg) that appealed to the rich and naturally had some BMW DNA and was in deed fast for its time, in fact the i8 in late 2013 when it was launched was quicker than any BMW in the 1/4.
