The sentence should be longer, she tried to kill two children and their mother and kidnapped a baby. I think a life sentence would be more fitting, if she wanted a child so bad there are thousands of children in need that can be adopted legally.

It's unfortunate that there wasn't enough evidence to charge that slime with arson. That surely would greatly increase her prison sentence because she would have been charged with a slew of crimes. I don't know why she had such a light sentence. Unfortunately Delimar's parents probably did not know that they could have testified at the parole hearing to keep that b1tch in jail. It's great that Delimar is having a good life.

I agree 100% she put not only a family of 3 lives in danger, the fire could have spread to adjacent buildings. That clearly was premeditated and attempted murder if I've ever seen a clearer case. No way enough jail time. Total disregard for lives. Selfish and criminal.

Honestly, I think she always suspected the kindapper, because of how she was the last stranger around. Man, this was certainly a shocking case. So much happening in one go! It’s genuinely upsetting that all of this has happened, especially the fire and the baby theft. The mother is mighty tough to never give up on her daughter, despite everything. Really smart to use bubblegum to get Delimars’ hair + identifying her daughter with DNA. Taking the mental condition into consideration, Caroline is mega f***ed for doing all that. Kidnapping Delimar, setting ablaze the house and trying to sabotage the second DNA test? Man… that’s really messed up. Thank goodness she got arrested. Thank goodness that all is well with the family and I wish Delimar, her mother and her family all the best in the future and beyond. While it was a stroke of inspiration to get the little girl's hair sample for a DNA test, it's baffling that Luz didn't suspect Caroline all those years before since she was convinced the baby was stolen and Caroline was there just moments before she went missing! A little detective work at that point would have revealed Caroline suddenly had a new baby, and had they managed the DNA test then, they could have gotten Delimar back six years sooner!
@rudra62
@rudra62 Жыл бұрын
She would have had to convince someone in authority to perform the test, investing several hundreds of dollars on poor brown people who did not speak English well. Sad, but that's the way it is. It would not have happened had Luz and Pedro been wealthy, white, and lived in an affluent neighborhood.

Caroline had been lying to a ton of people and saying (and believing) she was pregnant for months, and said she was almost 9 months pregnant when she stole Delimar and set the fire. @Finians_Mancave
@Finians_Mancave Жыл бұрын
@@rudra62 Well, no, the first thing she would have to do is convince the cops that the woman likely took her baby. Since there was a lack of human remains in the fire, that should have prompted an investigation and probably would have if Luz didn't come across as hysterical and had just pointed them in the right direction. Even a simple check on Caroline would have revealed: 1) That she suddenly had a baby that even her own husband couldn't explain. (Also wouldn't Luz and Pedro be able to recognize the baby as their own?), and 2) A background check would show a previous arson conviction -- just like the fire in this case. At this point there would be enough evidence to justify a DNA test (paid for by the county/state).

Personally, I have no problem with seeing more cases like this one that don't involve murder or death & have at least a somewhat happy ending. Multiple crimes were committed, so it still counts as "true crime." It was a nice change of pace & it was quite uplifting to see Delimar's instagram account at the end as it seems she is thriving.

This reminds me of a story here in South Africa, of a 3 day old baby (Zephany Nurse) kidnapped from hospital. Her biological sister befriended her at school and at the age of 17, she found out that her "mother" was not who she thought she was. This shows you the terrible trauma experienced by all of them, as they grapple to come to terms with the past actions of the woman who kidnapped her.

I read her book - it was very interesting, because in that case she was just too old for reunification :/ She still sees her kidnapper as her mother and doesn't seem too fond of her biological parents. I hope in this case at 6 she was really able to adapt to the new situation and embrace her family.

@David Owen I'm writing a historical romance fiction book, based during the Anglo Boer War, where a newborn is abducted by a woman and raised as her own daughter. Twenty years later, the biological father traces his daughter, and when he listens to the 'mother's' reasons why she took his baby, he realizes she had no option, and that she did the best she could in their unique situation. There's many twists and turns in this story. However, in reality, there are many cases of kids being abducted from their biological parents. Its great knowing this family had a happy ending. Thanks Adrian, love your channel.

We had a fire when I was a kid, I only remember my mom taking me and my brother through a window, because she slightly bumped my head over the frame and I got angry, because I was woken up in the middle of the night, didn't know what's happening and now got bumped over head. My grandma and great grandma were cut off on the top floor and had to be saved through balcony. There was 7 people in the house and we're all alive only because the our dog started barking like crazy when it sensed danger. I can't imagine what they all had to feel as adults understanding the situation and knowing how many people there are between two floors, but not knowing what happened to each other. If it wasn't for the dog, three generations of our family might've just vanish.

Her sentence was not near long enough, irrespective there are instances - as you correctly state - where murderers got lighter sentences. What she did was unspeakably evil. For, not only did she steal the baby and thus denied the real family of 6 precious and formative years of that child's life, but she used arson to cover her crime, and thus endangered the lives of those who braved the fire, trying to find a baby that was not even in the home. That devil should rot in prison, which quite frankly is much better than the thought I have in mind.

I have to admit, I was very upset when Delimar was discovered. Not only was she taken from the only mother she had ever known and given to a family that were total strangers, which would be extremely traumatic at any age, let alone when she was only 6, her family had to experience the trauma of not knowing whatever happened, with the parents being told she was probably dead, something they never believed. They also were denied the most crucial time period in a child’s life. I figured she would never get over it, and will face many years of mental health issues. Imagine my joy seeing how successful her life has turned out so far. I’m sorry this ended up breaking up the marriage, and hope that the parents were able to find peace 😊
