Normally for 1 on 1 I like to charge instead of per sessions, (packages). So i would offer 8 weeks / 12 weeks / 16 weeks where they have the option to pay in full or if they can't then I break down the payments into monthly. Is that ok as well?

I work as a free lancer in a gym in london. So all pt's do 15 hours unpaid work as our rent for our gym. Then we have to try to get clients and we can charge them however we want. I'm new to personal training so a few of the other pt's along with the gym manager who used to be a pt have given me advice. One current pt was talking me through his consultation and he showed me his price sheet. His prices were really cheap. I'm concerned that i will have to drop my prices a lot to get customers. A large portion of our members work at the local hospital so they all talk and if they tell eachother about how much more expensive i am i fear I will not get any clients. I am reluctant to drop my prices because if I'm working for less than £11hr I might as well do another much easier more stable job.
@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation

Thanks for reaching out and the support! Honestly, there is only so much you can do in that situation. If another trainer in your facility is offering prices that cheap then that will be a problem. You can either match that trainers price, which like you said probably isn’t a great idea. You can have higher prices than that trainer and offer something they don’t, such as a better experience, or longer sessions, or something else, but that will be tough. The third option is to find a different spot to train. If you want to charge higher end prices you need to be in the right spot to do that. Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like you’re in that spot.

@@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation ok thanks, I'll see how I get one because I've only been there for about 6 consecutive days and it's my first go at this. I've had 4 people in the last 2 days that are interested so I might be able to just lower my prices. Get some experience then move. Thing is my manager who seems to know his stuff and has been a pt for a few years thinks price wont be much of a factor. Anyway thank you!

So, I have a client who is just about to be cleared for exercise by her doctor. She just had a hernia surgery. She still has a lot of pain when she coughs. I told her to see a physical therapist first but I think since the doctor is telling her shes fine, she thinks shes fine. I'll see what my assessment tells me. But, my question is, how do you know when to tell people NO to the two person training? They should be almost the same when it comes to their abilities. Or at least close. Reason I ask is because her husband now wants to start working out with her and he can do all the normal things, with a bit of lack in his mobility. She wanted him to work with her forever ago, but now after the surgery, I don't think this will be easy to program for. I'd really have to program for them both separately.
@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation 3 жыл бұрын
Honestly, there are two answers to this. 1. You could have them do the moves they can both do together and then also have them do some moves individually. Similarly to if one client had a bad knee and needed modifications (for example). 2. You could be honest and say that they’re not ready to work together at this time but that they might be within a few months or so. With a hernia surgery, it’s likely that she’ll just have to go lighter for a while and be careful with core work. For him, not having any limitations makes it a bit easier for you program around her more than you normally would.

@@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation This is helpful. Usually, when my clients injure themselves or come back from an illness or surgery, I might be too cautious. I've always looked to the doctor for information or the physical therapist for recommendations but they've never been open to conversation with me directly. I was going to plan all of these rehab-type movements for her but honestly, I think I'll just be assessing her to see what she can do, then maybe open up the conversation about her doing more with friends if I believe it's easily scalable. Sometimes I just need to not worry so much before I get to see my clients.
@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation 3 жыл бұрын
That’s natural! You don’t want to injure them any further or have them feel uncomfortable! You could most certainly ask your client if she’d feel comfortable with you reaching out to her PT if she has one. You can send them an email asking any questions, specifics, etc. to make you feel more comfortable.

Are these documents tied to any legal-type action? In other words, are these contract templates legally binding? Or do we need to consult a lawyer or someone related to law in order to be able to take effective legal action if required?
@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation 3 жыл бұрын
They’re not legally binding. That being said, having used something similar with hundreds of clients, we’ve never had a problem. Taking a client to court would probably never be worth it anyways. Legal fees would almost certainly cost more than training sessions. If you wanted to make it legally binding though, I’m sure you could hire someone to modify it.

I live in NYC so I wanted to ask about pricing here? I’ve made my own sheet I my notes on a general idea of pricing but it’s not the same as living in a small town and owning a Fitness studio because the high demand of rent here. I know I can use my fitness membership (maybe not now cause Covid-19) to have clients and train them or train them in local parks if possible (also consider weather). It’s hard to decide on pricing and environment living here.
@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation 3 жыл бұрын
I think you could structure pricing the same there tbh. You would use the third pricing sheet I showed in the video and then raise the prices even more based on what your competition is doing. I’m familiar with how training works in the city since I’m not too far away. It’s the same just more expensive. So again what I would do in your situation is I would use the third pricing sheet that I used and increase the prices I showed even more like I showed in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mWPWqnqAfKmhb6M

Hi, I've a client who wants me to train her at her condo's gym..it's good in a way, since I don't have a place on my own to train her.. Does the 25% travel charge applicable to my situation? Thanks
@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation Жыл бұрын
That’s a good question! I would still charge some sort of a travel fee. Essentially, the travel there and back still takes up some of your time, and ultimately they’re paying for your time. If you’re using their condos equipment you could charge slightly less if they’re close by. That said, I would definitely still charge some sort of travel fee.

I charge 250 a month is that good?
@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation 2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, it's hard to answer that question. What you charge and whether or not it's good is really dependent on a lot of things including where you live, how many clients you have/are looking to take on, etc. If you have too little or too many clients, aren't making enough to live, etc. you may need to adjust!

Why would you have both parties pay in a couple session? I thought since there are two people, both would pay that price as one. Can you elaborate please?
@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation 2 жыл бұрын
You always want to increase your price when training multiple people. It should go up a bit for each extra person included. Of course it’s a bit of extra work for each person involved, but there is also more wear and tear on equipment and things like that as well when you’re training multiple people at once.

Hi there! I am a brand new trainer (but have worked out in all types of fitness since age 10 & am an RN). I have a husband & wife team that want me to come train them 5 days a week and their place is 32 miles away! As we're all new, I opted to charge $110 per hour session for them both. This first week, the wife has said she doesn't feel good. The husband is very obese, has type 2 diabetes, I inguinal hernia and diastisis recti, and he's 34. His wife is very small, pretty healthy and 27 yrs old. I have opted and arranged with them to charge the $110 per session even if one of them does not attend as I am driving a total of 2 hrs each day and putting in a lot of time starting this up. Don't know if you can help with billing/advice? My Stripe account will not work to bill as I don't have a website established & Stripe requires I have one. Help help help 🙏
