Putting JoyToy lower then MacFarlane because of few paint spills is unfair: some other JT SM may not have it, while McF SM will always be just FLAT. McF space marine is just flat - no shades, no gradients - nothing. Even gold is flat. Also - some JT intersessor sets have bolter, bolt pistol \ plasma pistol and chainsword so, IMHO JT also should win in weapons department.
@SpruesNStuds Жыл бұрын
Fair argument that you pose. I definitely will take that into consideration if I get the opportunity to compare across action figure lines. I think McF lost their licensing and Bandai barely makes anymore figures so looks like JT is the lone carrier of the torch going forward.

Honestly with how Joytoy has been pumping out new Ultramarine army-builders and other Space Marine Chapters like almost every couple weeks, it makes McFarlane’s lineup look like A JOKE in comparison! There is NO WAY that Mcfarlane will be able to keep up with the amount of Space Marine variety that Joytoy has provided us!:3

Joytoy really is the only option now if you want actual armies of these guys. They have 3 friggin' Primarchs already, with Horus just announced the other day. Representation from nearly every major chapter, tons of Chaos Marines, tons of Necrons, Sororitas, vehicles, Death Corps, Custodes; it's crazy to realize that with as many figures as they already have out, they still haven't even touched the Eldar or the Tyrannids.

I loved this comparison - I can see all of these different models side by side. And, yes I expected Bandai's to stand on top. Yet, since I like my action figures to stand in groups, for me the "army building" metric is also very important. I have been a toy collector for three years and I haven't seen such kind of pretty detailed and painted figure with this cheap prices. Especially the face without helmet, the face sulpts have been done with pretty skin tone and very detailed. Love all of them at first sight. Why I didn't know about their existance sooner?! I never see that Bandai figure at my own, so maybe im wrong, but I feel too much "clean" for a warrior space marine, anyway looks great in your videos. About McFarlane Warhammer series, all i can see in my own, is just the opossite, feel so much "dirty" , wear and tear... and really bad finished considering his huge dimensions, letting the buyer the real painting job, i dont like. For example that MF bolter at same level vs Joytoy in your review? Really ? Being honest is just a primer spray bolter, zero job xD. JoyToy WH weapons are really cool, but just that pistol not soo, agree Bandai looks better. Bandai really looks cool for a big figure, far better than MF, but in another league compared to JT series, for me the better look, more equilibrated colors, little details and insane WH stuff to choose, JoyToy is my undisputted winner. Im missing the: 1) price parameter - was mentioned somehow at the end. Few McFarlen toys popped up at my local toychain for 20eur but only like 3 figures to chose and i recently discovered those JoyToy (and your channel) and those are 40eur for the basic fig, 60-90eur for more special and 150eur for some main characters or really big figures 2) collectibility aspect - how much other figures in the same line are available - i dont know about McFarlen but i see the JoyToy is like taking all the characters from WH40K and slowly turning them into action figures - also there are tons of variations for many figures - just spent over 300eur for my first batch from the JoyToy line

I think the White Scars and Ultramarine Captain in Gravis armor came after that (that thing was insane though, I think it had a $240 preorder price). There is a Blood Angels one for preorder now; I personally don't think it looks great, and it is even more overpriced (although at least Bandai finally made a chainsword). Joytoy is just dominating though. Announced Horus Luprecal coming just the other day, 3 Primarchs already, freaking Dreadnaughts and Dreadknights, Black Legion out the wazoo, and friggin' Death Corps of Krieg. There's really just no beating them. Bandai will never come even close to catching up (and a Bandai Primarch would probably cost $500 or something stupid).

I have to say that personally I prefer the JoyToy paint to Bandai, as I feel at least on camera the Bandai one is too bright and the gold is too yellowy. I know you get yellow gold and white gold, but I just think subtlety is better in this case, because it separates things but doesn't clash.

Every single manufacturer of these action figures have their strengths and weakness (much like real life). There are definitely things that I like more than the other when comparing action figure manufacturers. Either way, these videos of this type that I make are extremely subjective, but at least they serve as a conversation starter if not a reference for people to see these figures side by side. As for other manufacturers, I think that the only 3 are JT, McF, and Bandai.

I think that you did a fair assessment of the quality of the figures. I'm not a hardcore Ultramarines fan, but I do love the armored figs. I would hope that Bandai's quality should be better than the other company offerings for the price they are asking. Otherwise, what's the point of getting them. I love the JoyToy for the variety of characters that are available and the details for a smaller scale toyline. However, my collection is basically 1/12 and 1/10 scale, so I actually got some from Mcfarlane. They are great for the price and I have a few of them.
