Ok...I made these and let them sit in the fridge (once they cooled) for 5 days. I put a couple ounces of red wine in each batch of brine. I didn't have the same wine as Shotgun Red used but the brine turned out really nice. I tried the pickled hotdogs for the first time this morning. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS as were the onions that were added. These are going to be savored while I watch my football games when the boys come over. Add a couple beers...and a bowl of crackers...awesome. Shotgun Red will always be missed...but I'll be thinking of the guy every time I make these in the future. Ryan T.

This gave me an idea, I go through lots of pickles, also sweet and hot jalapenos, jalapenos with a bread and butter type brine they're really good. i get in this kick I save the juices when peppers are gone and drop a fresh batch of dill pickles in the jar after a while the baby dills take on the heat from the bread and butter jalapenos. After watching this video a couple days later I grabbed a can of Vienna sausages out to put on crackers and the idea hit me. So I'm trying the Vienna in the jalapeno brine to see what I get, added a few jalapenos a couple chili peppers and garlic cloves. Got a feeling this is going to be good shouldn't take very long for these little doggies to soak up the flavor. RIP Steve
