When the "mother" is giving the cops the silent treatment after getting arrested, I would bet every cent I have to my name that the only thing on her mind is her seething anger at her young son for "putting her in that position". She's fantasizing about all of the sick and twisted things she's going to do to him as punishment. "Just wait til I get my hands on him". That's not a look of shame or remorse. That's the look of pure hatred. I hope "the real world" teaches this monster a lesson.

I would be willing to bet all my money on it, as well! I was thinking the same thing, especially in that side profile when she was standing and the cop was asking her if she needed medical treatment! Her eyes looked BLACK! I was thinking to myself "dang, from this side profile, with those eyes, she looks a LOT like "Reagan" from the original exorcist movie"! 😬 You could see the rage just dripping from her! I pray she is NEVER able to get her hands on another child ever again.

Guilt isn't determined by how someone shows their emotions. In modern western culture men aren't allowed to feel anything except anger and this particular man was in the Mormon cult, which means he'd be especially repressed. He may not be a good father but you can't charge him with that.

@@passivelyasking4825 ikr I’ll bet if ruby was ugly and large they would have been right on her case! Just goes to show how far a pretty face can get you, no lunch …..again? The injury’s to the children or the missed school days, the size of the children…. I mean these things don’t just happen overnight, they must have seen the state of the children? Surly? Meanwhile ruby looks well fed, well groomed with nice clothes and expensive makeup and at times open to the abuse of the children, and happy to tell the teachers that she couldn’t care less if her child goes without food n water in blistering heat!! I can only assume that the Mormon church has its “agents” well placed within the school, the doctors office, the CPS, the police station, and the court house!! Even with the open abuse of her children’s missing lunch, to the soft ball approach towards her husband and his non arrest, to the court proceedings which looked to be quite a gentle approach towards ruby! It wouldn’t surprise me if the Mormon church has agents in the prison too. I hope she gets special attention from the inmates. When they knocked in her door she must have ran that child upstairs, locked her in and immediately called her lawyer as opposed to just opening the door like most people. The other woman were expecting some people from Porto rico later on in the day, the one who had the girls scrubbing the floor was up to no good too because she didn’t question why she was being detained, like she already knew. I’m sure something else was going on because ruby didn’t expect them to enter the home but was talking to a lawyer. so I’m sure who ever was coming up from South America was maybe the reason they all thought the police were there!! Maybe the girl was being placed into another Mormon family or a bride for someone? Something was definitely not right with that girl being in that home

Yeah the husband likely knew but state governments all across America are very anti-dad. If he reports child abuse, some states arrest the father first regardless of submitter and ask questions later “for the benefit of those involved” Courts routinely give the children to the mom’s even when dad’s point out abusive tendencies because “mom’s know best!” And if he were to intervene it’s very possible she claims abuse against herself because she’s psychotic and gets him arrested until proven innocent.

Yeah, they have to follow basic laws & protocol, even with wicked witches like Ruby! 😂 🧙 The mere offering of food and/or medical attention explains Ruby's silent-treatment & blank reaction as the cop was attempting to cater to her entitled ass. Not even attempting, he was WANTING to cater to her. And Ruby knew in that moment, by being offered her basic necessities of food & water, and being given an option for medical attention, she couldn’t use that against the officers in court. They weren’t making her detainment barbaric, something she obviously knows nothing about... It’s a “minor” thing in the grand scheme of the case, if she were to accuse police of mistreatment, but we know people like her will grasp at straws to find every little fault they can with law enforcement. Or even with the prosecution‘s side in court. Even though Ruby denied her children the same basic necessities, we know that a conniving mind like hers will try to pin that on law enforcement/first responders later on, her lawyer saying some BS like, “they didn’t offer her any help or water,” or something. She’s got it all “planned out” sooo well in her mind… But the cop reaction was priceless! “I know you don’t believe me, but I do have to make sure you’re medically sound and healthy, are you okay?” This B just stares and looks away…

He was out of the picture for a year after Jodi made him leave. I’m not even sure he saw the children recently. He just left them with Ruby and Jodi. It’s so crazy. Ruby and Jodi were planning on taking the underage children to Arizona to build a ranch. I seriously think those children were going to end up dead if that boy hadn’t gone to the neighbors. Kevin didn’t seem to care about the children. He’s just asking about his wife in the police interview, not his children. I found that very interesting and upsetting at the same time.

There was plenty of bad shit going on before he got kicked out of the house, maybe not quite to this extreme but pretty damn close. He doesn't seem surprised at all. *When they tell him about his kids he never asks if they're okay, never asks what's going to happen to them, never even asks where they are. Never says he loves them.* But then when they talk about his horrible wife he asks what's going to happen to her and states he loves her. I think they should have charged him, too. I'm sure the kids had plenty to say about what went on while he still lived in the house.. But maybe they didn't. It's hard not to love your parents, and if he wasn't the abusive one then who knows. But I'm guessing he definitely saw abuse happening while he lived there, and would have kept allowing it to happen if she let him come back.

Yup. Sometimes when my brothers kids are being fussy and refuse to eat a meal he just says ok, and wraps it up and puts it in the fridge. Difference is they’re allowed to change their minds at any time and dad will unwrap the food and heat it up for them in the microwave. Which always happens within an hour or two. And it’s never done as a punishment. Just taken until they decide they’re ready to actually eat it. There’s nothing wrong with the food either it’s perfectly good food, and stuff the kids usually like. Just occasionally one gets fussy for no apparent reason and doesn’t feel like it and wants something else. Kids range from 3-7 so it be like that sometimes 😂 I seriously can’t imagine denying a kid food as punishment though. Snacks yes, meals no. In proper families parents are willing to go without themselves just to see their children fed. It’s one of your most important obligations to feed your kids.

I’ll be honest I rarely agree with what the police do because they spend too much time paying attention to the wrong things when there’s things like this and much worse happening to children BUT I must say they did an amazing job along with the EMS. If I were a cop on that scene I would have not been able to control my emotions and likely would have put the case in jeopardy.. I’d at least tighten these devil’s handcuffs till they couldn’t feel their hands. I pray these kids can overcome this pain and trauma. That little boy is a fighter and a survivor… he went into survival mode and broke out of his restraints and escaped thru a window. Who knows how much time he had left if he would have stood in that house.

Kevin Franke is no prize, either. He tried to have his 19-year-old daughter arrested after he thought she broke into the family home, but it was actually the police executing a warrant. His daughter went in later and removed some electronics, which she thought she was allowed to do, but immediately returned them when she was asked to. Her father still wanted her arrested, even arguing with the police officer who gave him the items. During his initial interview, he was more concerned about Ruby and defending her than his kids that were in the hospital. When he talked to her in jail, he didn't show one ounce of anger towards her, even after he informed her their son would be hospitalized for three days and Ruby said that was "ridiculous". I hope one of two older kids can take custody of their siblings because I don't trust any of the other adults in their lives.

Child abusers are the lowest. Sending your child to school without lunch and hoping no one gives them food is sick and twisted. Normal moms don't think that way. I hope their beds are so uncomfortable and the other women show them what it feels like to be bullied. I hope they're both kept in prison for the maximum time. At some point during Kevin's first interview, he said he had not seen his children in over a year. Jodi told him to walk away, and he did. Right after being told about the condition in which his youngest son was found, his concern was the level of punishment for his wife. So yeah, two things can be true at once, Kevin had a crappy marriage but he also, at best, abandoned his kids to a wife he believed was under the thumb of an unstable maniac and then, once they were freed, seems to have continued to be utterly unconcerned with taking care of them 🤷‍♀️ and that is imo a generous read of the situation lol

👩🏻‍💻Retired Utah teacher here. Over the 17 years of primarily teaching 1st grade, I don't know how many school lunches I bought for students who forgot to bring a lunch, for non payment, &c. The reasons don't matter, children study, work, and BEHAVE better when there is gas in their tummies for their brains to work. I always kept a lunch tab for me so money was the least worry. Besides, this is an adult problem and/or fault, why punish the child for parent negligence. Schools can afford a full lunch, not a partial lunch, for emergencies when school lunch is government subsidized 50%. When parents chaperoned the field trips I supplied them with a school brown bag lunch for helping that day. When kids don't eat, kids don't have the energy to learn, then I have a problem in the classroom. For the first 3 or 4 weeks of school I had to teach the children to sit and eat their lunch to get outside for playtime, they had no concept of time and using it wisely.
