The ferret circus reminds me of the old Monty Python sketch where they introduce a fake band to perform "Yummy Yummy Yummy, I've Got Love In My Tummy," but in order to not be seen, all of the band members are in wooden shipping crates, so the entire performance is just the cameras switching around the studio to these shipping crates as the music plays and lights flash. That circus music is titled "Entrance of the Gladiators," and was originally composed as a military march in 1897. It gained its name because the composer was super into the Roman Empire, and was awed by a novel's description of the appearance of a gladiator. And while I thought that was going to be my little contribution to unnecessary trivia relating to today's Corrections, in double checking my work, I learned that that same piece of music was imposed by the SS on prisoners' orchestras to accompany the departures and returns of the work Kommandos in nazi concentration camps. When it comes to The Horrors, everything old is new again!
