Ex RAF vet here the 4 birds at Mount Pleasant are simply to get up into the skies launch full spreads of missiles then very quickly as fast as they can get to ground and refuel and reload to do it again. But gentlemen the surprise you missed comes from below the waves there's always one in that area and well they aren't only good for Belgranoing Argentine naval vessels they are awesome at sea to shore capabilities too.

Spot on, I think most people in the Uk would not have a problem with the RN sending ordnance to disable Argentine aircraft/airfields if they ever decided to attack the Falklands again, we let them off lightly last time and should make sure they don't launch a 2nd wave of aircraft if they do it again.

@@johnscone9382 but we didn't need another week you're just searching for a negative to justify your hypothetical negatives. We had additional subs and an air bridge if we needed to adapt and overcome on numerous areas, indeed we could have used a civilian air fleet to ferry supplies to Ascension and use the RAF from there. Plenty of options for those with a can do attitude. Today we learnt from 1982 and hence we've got numerous options with naval and air assets to defend the Falklands, I doubt the Argentinan military would be keen to try again

Having done a FIRIC tour for 6 months down there at MPA, I can catagorically say that any invasion would first be detected by the radar systems- the current system picks up all aviation traffic from BA, then FIDF(Falkland Islands Defence force) which are pretty decent wouild be activated and honestly the amount of ammunition and weapons available to them would be more than enough to counter any invasion force until 16AA are scrambled from Brize to MPA(an exercise was played out not so long ago-full activation and they were at MPA in 19 hours from colchester to MPA) so in summary you've got Eurofighters there, a type 45 frigate there, multiple sam systems there, no doubt a sub would be sent there urgently, no doubt lads from hereford would be down there, youve got the FIRIC company down there(normally an oversized infantry company-100+ soldiers) the FIDF there...and you think argentina would stand a chance

Exactly. And even if the Argentinas did manage to buy this many aircraft, it's highly doubtful they'd a) manage to pilot them all, b) have this many serviceable, c) be armed with 120C5s (more likely 'B' models), d) have very little training hours on the platform. So, given this is an absolute 'best case' scenario for Argentina. It makes sense to see an absolute 'best case' scenario for the UK too.

Not happy they getting these aircraft I don't particularly like fig but my family still live there . Radar stations you mentioned I won't comment on . I do wonder if America is an ally at times go back 50 years they supplied argentine army with weaponry and they invaded islands ten years on . I enjoyed the simulation but euro fighter 1435flt is an awesome aircraft. When I was chairman of goose green club I invited the squadron down from mpa for a few drinks what a night they presented a plaque saying thanks to buzz and the community of goose green for a great time . They also presented a chess set made out of f4 rivets and board was name out of a f4 panel but sadly was taken . Great guys who put there lives ar risk every time they get in the cockpit . I genuinely believe that there's nothing on earth that is better at killing non-stealth aircraft than the Typhoon - and I include the F-22 in that. The F-22 is clearly the superior aircraft and would win a 1 vs 1 against anything. But to kill as many non-stealth aircraft as possible, the Typhoon is just immensely efficient. In all of your videos, I'm really pleased you do 'best case scenarios'. Doing anything else is pretty pointless, not to mention the work and effort required from you guys.

Very interesting to watch Grim, great video. I would imagine a real life scenario would also see atleast one Aircraft carrier not far away with F-35's too, given the fact that increased tensions to the point they're even considering another invasion would likely lead to such pre-emptive planning. That's not to consider the potential intel leaks or espionage that could reveal such plans (as we saw with the Ukraine invasion, months ahead they knew) and lead to such units being sent to reinforce the islands. That scenario would be very interesting to see, with more than just F-16's, but Argentina's older aircraft too.

As to the A-4's that the Argentines have the ones which they used in the Falklands where taken out of service and replaced with 36 A-4AR Fighting Hawks these where a modified A-4M and 4 TA-4F trainers which had an AN/APG-66V2 radar (pretty much the same as the F-16 Block 15) replacing the TV and Laser Spot trackers and a glass cockpit and uprated engine. The major issues is that the explosive cartridges for their ejector seats have time expired and other issues they currently have less than 6 of them remaining... With the F-16's the other major issue is the lack of tankers to help them get to the Falklands with a decent payload... Nice video as usual...

I think as a bit of fun, this was utterly fantastic! Bird and Drop made me spit out my drink with their WW2 pilot accents. As a platform, the Typhoon is basically the best aircraft for this exact situation. Not to mention if they sent down 8 more Eurofighters they could probably send down a SAM (not sure logistically how but dude trust me). In terms of realism, I think some Typhoons would be filled with a mix of Meteors and more ASRAAMs whilst others would be back up. So good work, if anything the F-16s would have more air-ground! Ultimately those F-16s are just good enough for what Argentina needs, but not something they could realistically ever use to attack the Falklands with. (plus their pilots would need more than a year's worth of training). Funnily enough, it's a very similar jet and number of jets that Chile has Would love an ASRAAM vs AIM-9X comparison video to show how potent it is, because the ASRAAM's a very interesting missile and multiple countries use it in spades 😁

Hi Cap, loving getting more Typhoon action thanks but i'm curious: I've read that the Typhoon can be bought with Thrust Vectoring but nobody seems to have taken this build of the jet yet. Would your brilliant team of programmers be able to add Thrust Vectoring to the Typhoon in DCS and if so, how do you think it would get on against current 4th and 5th Gen fighters with this addition? Cheers!

There is a mod kit for the Typhoon. It was decided that the aircraft is already capable of dealing with almost anything thrown at it, and as such they did not think it was worth the cost.

@@BlesamaSoul.

In reality the air wing posted down there by the Brits is little more than a token to keep an eye and as a warning. If the Argentinians decided they wanted to try their tricks again it wouldn't matter if they managed to take the land because within a few days they would have not only lost it again but also any military they had in range at the time. Back in 82 the problem for the Brits was mostly range but things have moved on significantly since then and it wouldn't matter how much the equipment cost in wartime - it would be available come what may. If that meant every Meteor available then it would be.

The F-16 sale is definitely geopolitics at play but from a military point of view, in the highly unlikely event that something did escalate to the level of a Falklands War 2, I can think of a few advantages to the UK in Argentina having F16 rather than JF-17. Firstly, the characteristics of the F-16 are presumably better understood by the UK vs the JF-17 and secondly if the conflict dragged on there should be more opportunities for the UK and our allies to make getting spare parts difficult for Argentina - shades of the Exocet shenanigans happening in the shadows in 1982 - compared to our abilities to disrupt JF-17 supply chains. And I suppose thirdly, but sort of related to the last point, if Argentina wanted to try and pre-empt any supply issues by stocking up before a conflict started I would think that UK and allied intelligence agencies would be better able to detect such signals from the F-16 supply chains vs the JF-17 supply chain. Basically better the enemy you know.
