I think it was amazing you left some roughness of the Wood instead of sanding it totally smooth/flat. Being buried beneath the CA allowed for a 3D relief effect of the Wood's surface. That hit me right at the end as you were showing the finish. Cracking the ring was epic. dang

The amount of time and energy that goes into making this is unreal, how much do you charge for one of these? I can't imagine these being easy to reproduce even if you did batch them. I get it looks better, but man, what an amount of labor to get this effect. As a side note, thank you for all your tips and recommendations! I use all your tools!

You could use a laser to cut the centre out. You'd have to mill up a board to the right thickness first but you could batch out loads from one board. Co2 or Diode laser will cut that thickness of wood.

Hi Mike In your making a wood inlay ring video you show the artisan ring chick. However you have an extra piece in there holding the ring. You show the first 2 adapters facing each other and then the ring. When I use the adapters it doesn’t allow me to cut deeper because you hit the adapters. What is the extra piece that is holding your ring? Thanks, Mike

Love your videos. 😃Great voice for narrating. Thanks for putting them together and sharing. My question is: I have an acrylic blank that I want to turn, then inlay in my ceramic 10mm channel core. It won’t split like wood so any suggestion to get it in 2 pieces that will go back together well, is appreciated. I have some ideas but would rather not "experiment" with a ring blank that wasn’t cheap. Thanks.

Are rings like this able to get wet? Maybe not completely submerged in water but would rain or hand washing damage the wood?
@CraftSuppliesUSA
@CraftSuppliesUSA 2 сағат бұрын
If they are finished with CA, they can get wet. The thin CA wicks into the fibers of the wood and seals them so water cannot penetrate.
