I guess my issue with dedicated fidget toys is that you kinda have to remember to have them on you. A think infamously hard to do when you have adhd. I think it’s more reasonable to have fidget items that are incorporated into things that are already everyday items, like pens, phone cases, or something easy to keep on you like jewelry (i love the rings that spin) having a toy that has multiple small parts isn’t practical for what it’s trying to do
@rayncloud99
@rayncloud99 5 ай бұрын
As someone with anxiety, I love the rings too! It's way more convenient and no one gives weird looks when I mess with it. I also enjoy hearing the movable band hit the non-movable one when shaking my hands and it isn't too loud like other fidget toys do.
@leolion3323
@leolion3323 5 ай бұрын
Having a completely regular simple ring to move around on your finger or take off and fiddle with works too, i bet the spinny rings are wonderful though.
@rayncloud99
@rayncloud99 5 ай бұрын
@@leolion3323 It depends on the ring. I have two other rings that are regular rings but with them having a design on one side can lead to me forgetting and either hitting the ring wrong or it rubs against my other fingers the wrong way. The spinny rings at least don't do any of that because the design is the same all around on the spinny part, but it's not so deep that you can really feel the design.

Best for keeping in a box in a classroom, honestly. No remembering involved except on the part of the teacher.
@monroerobbins7551
@monroerobbins7551 5 ай бұрын
That’s fair! I guess these fidgets (especially when they’re cheaper) would be a good way to figure out what fidget method works best for you, whether it be a spinny, a flicky, a snappy, stuff like that. Then from there, you can find everyday items that work for the same thing. I did something similar; I played with different fidgets until I used a fidget spinner, and when the spinny worked, I got a spinny ring that had the flick I wanted, but was subtle.

I would love to see you review fidget jewelry! Growing up, I dropped so many rings, lost so many earrings, and broke so many necklaces because I couldn't quit messing with them. Now that I'm a grownup with a diagnosis and have discovered that it's A Thing, I'd love to find some that are actually satisfying

As a jewelry maker with adhd, I recommend getting a open box clasp or a bayonette clasp for your jewelry! When I learned how to build them, i couldn't stop opening and closing them. If you get a nice and sturdy one, it will even have a very satisfying click when you close it! :D Also a coworker made me a ring with a Button to press on top, I really love that thing!

it's really cool to see creators being open about this stuff! i loved this video but the companies way overprice this stuff, a lot of these things were so expensive when you can get magnets for so much cheaper at a hardware store, or a regular pen instead. I understand that the aesthetic is cool for some of them if you have the money for it, though a lot of places will charge more for fidgets that look less like a childrens toy or are more discreet, and the bright "childish" ones are already so expensive! I wish that they could be more accessible financially, and not take advantage of the fact that they're selling a specific accessibility item to people who are already more likely to impulse purchase because of their disability.

It's my favorite ADHD boy! Hey ethan, I hope you feel better soon, as a fellow 30 year old man I totally get your anxiety (don't wanna say depression since I've never been actually diagnosed) and I hope you can find something to focus that challenges you and fuels your life with good vibes. Life is hard! I super appreciate you being here with us/for us ❤

I have AuDHD. Right now my 2 favorite stim toys are the Nee Doh Nice Cube and this little 3D printed dragon I got at the Ren Fair. One is squishy and the other is kinda hard and pointy but it’s also segmented so it’s fun to play with and put in different poses. It’s also really cute. I feel like I have a little pet dragon :3

My favourite stim tool is called a rubiks snake (I believe). I have two, one big and one small but the big one is way too hard to move so i only ever use the little one. It is wonderful, i can make it into shapes (specifically a ball) without looking, it's also practically noiseless and super easy to fidget with any time you have at least one hand free, although its more fun with two. I often just sit and endlessly adjust whatever shape the thing is in while talking with doctors or my psychiatrist or such, it's incredibly relieving to have something to focus on a little / look at when you're talking to someone you don't know super well.

A slider that has difficulty sliding is like a spinner that has difficulty spinning. I do not need them in my life.

My favourite one was called a figet cube, got it from walmart back when the spinners had totally taken over and I wasn't really a fan of them. It's a smal cube with 5 buttons on one side like a dice, a big button, this weird like thumb indent area, like a grooved spinning disks half way out of one of the other sides with a metal ball you can roll, a basically joystick like thing on one side, and basically a rotating dial, and a switch you can flip.. I think the switch is the one I go to a lot because I'll AGRESSIVELY flip that thing back and forth (hopefully my description is good enough heh) -- OH I found them on amazon! Just google fidget cube!! Mine is blue and white, but damn the black one looks nice!
