Thank you so much for your tip and save me I was already working on my third headband that came out to loose and I was like what's going on because I decreased the number that I changed I was trying to accommodate a pattern that called for chunky yarn and a bigger hook because I was using medium worsted with a 4-in hook versus chunky with a 6-in hook she changed 43 and did three rows and was done I originally the first headband I changed 83 and did six rows and the six rows gave me the width of her headband but when I put it on it was too big it was pretty but it was too big I did two that way before I realized so on the next one that I did I decreased it from 83 down to 63 figuring I still had to accommodate for the size difference and though it wasn't as big it was still big on my head and I tried your tip and that fixed the issue it's almost perfect I was thinking maybe I could do the same thing around the chain side thanks for your help!!

Fabulous! Wonder if I can find a similar tutorial for how to fix a KNIT hat that is similarly too big!
@CrochetwithClare7 жыл бұрын
for knit hats it could e that your gauge is off or your tension is off. it could also be the yarn and needle do not match the pattern. if your hat is too big you can try going down a needle size as well as try to do a gauge swatch before making the hat
@MargotKeyes7 жыл бұрын
Thanks....yes I would know that...and just made a hat for my BIL for Christmas and yet, it is too loose, due to using thicker yarn and one needle size too big. Alas, it is made, so I want to add a brim in a smaller needle size to cinch it in a bit. I hope I can fix it!
@MargotKeyes7 жыл бұрын
I am wondering how odd a crocheted brim on a knit rib (2x2 for 2 in then a fair isle pattern) I am thinking to do this brim fix with the fair isle pattern color so it looks planned (LOL!) If it works I will post photos....

Hi Clare, so all you did was to drop down a hook sz? Is the any decreasing when you drop a hook sz? sometime when I follow a pattern to a T the hat comes out too big. Either my gauge if very off or also I crochet too lose, but when I look at it it looks okay to me. But I’m going to try down sizing my hook or at the top check the sz there too. Thanks.....very helpful. I live in Yuma,Arizona.....veggie and citrus capital of the US. 🌅🥬🥦🥕🍋🍊🌶🌽🍅🍉🌮🥗🌵🦎🐓🐖🐑🧶
@CrochetwithClare3 жыл бұрын
Yes and yes. YOu can do both. If the hat is still too big around the brim, you can try it with a few decrease stitches.
