It was actually a lot of fun. Although she's not as evil as in the cartoon, which is a lot of people's complaint, that doesn't really mean she won't get there. In this movie, Cruella is still in her 20's or early 30's, and by the end of the movie, we can see that this persona has kinda taken over her, so in a few years, she could definitely turn into the evil puppy killer we all know. I think people are over-hating on this movie simply due to nostalgia. I will say however, it has atrocious cgi.

I just finished it and I am surprised at how good it is. My main concern was Emma Stone's British accent but she really did her role justice and gave a great performance in every scene. This film had a far better story than what I could gather from the trailers. I think it will be known as one of the best Disney live actions that they have done.

@@mm4843 Here's the thing though. To me, the Disney remakes are getting boring because they're the same movie. Like, the same movie with very little added or at worse, things removed. (wth Mulan). Cinderella is definitely one of my tops.. but personally.. I think comparing Cruella to Cinderella is a little unfair. Cinderella is a remake that is still pretty much telling the same story, just expanded. Cruella on the other hand is a PREQUEL. They focused on Cruella before the events of 101 Dalmatians, and personally the nailed the storytelling. With Maleficent, she became a hero... somehow? Unlike the original. Cruella however, she remains a villain. While the credits scene will confusing some people, this can potentially show that Cruella is on her way to becoming the villain we know. The sequel just got to pull it off you know?

Honestly it's what bugs me the most of these villain movies, they're not villains anymore, they're anti heroes. It's not like they flesh out what was there or explore the humanity of these villains. They make new heroic characters and give them the villain's name and aesthetic so they can continue to push new merch at a slightly older demographic. Then they face down these new monsters whilst the heroes of old story are idiots or passive observers. It's black and white as ever but with the roles switched around.

I agree because in reality there’s no person that is completely “good” and no person that is completely “evil”. Estella is by no means a good person. Estella(Cruella) was by no means a hero or a “good person”

@@morgans2617 Well in the movie... technically they don't establish her as a hero. She's still the villain, and in the end of the movie it remains that way. In fact we could say she's on her way to becoming the iconic Cruella if they every make a sequel.

There's always that problem with soundtracks in movies I notice. Honestly the best way I've seen it used is in Shrek movies, where they have their own unique theme music but also incorporate pre-existing popular songs. When there's an emotional or important scene, they switch to their own Shrek theme, but if the scene is for fun they'll throw in a song that wasn't made for the movie. They did this so well that during Shrek II in "Holding Out for a Hero", they actually play the Shrek theme underneath the song which really pulls it all together.

@@a.nikolaev5666 yes but it technically isn’t a lie. in the mid credit scene cruelly delivers two puppies to both anita and roger named pongo and perdita respectively. these two dogs are the ones that give birth to the litter in the cartoon where it kicks off cruellas wish to skin them. my guess is that throughout the movie cruella and estella are like two different people in the same body so even in the scene where she implies she would skin the dogs for the coat, it’s cruella speaking but estella still hasn’t gotten to the point where she’s ‘100%’ cruella. so it’s only at the end of the film that since estella is ‘dead’ it’s 100% possible that cruella would skin puppies. the only thing holding her back throughout the movie was estella who still in comparison had some morals. so it’s not necessarily a myth it’s just that the movie hasn’t shown her in full cruella action

@@RubenTricky there are more movies being made today, so it's a fact that there are more bad movies today. Nowadays movies feel like people trying to make money & forward agendas rather than making art. Movies in the 80s,90s,00s had there issues, but at least most of those movies felt like they were created by people who grew up dreaming of the opportunity, nowadays people use cheap gimmicks like representation and equality to sell products instead of focusing on the quality. IMO movies/shows like Indiana Jones, STARWARS, Avatar TLA, Dragonball, The Wire, etc were all great because they were made by people who had a vision years before they had a opportunity.

Also there already is a 101 Dalmatians movie. AND a sequel. Disney should just abandon this whole charade of shitty remakes and start supporting new ideas, not a remake, not a sequel, not a prequel, something new, and something with heart and soul put into it, but the mouse is greedy

I... would likely hate that idea. I could potentially see a new take on Frollo that’s either more Gothic and dark, or even a more sympathetic version. However, I know Disney won’t go darker (heck, I doubt they’d even make that now), and I don’t trust them to properly handle a more sympathetic take.

i’m honestly so happy with how they did this. it’s not a remake but a completely new movie connected to something old. i love how they’re fleshing out old characters and not using nostalgia at every other corner. i fee that if they kept connecting this film to the original cartoon it would’ve been another cheap trick at nostalgia. i hope that they do more like this one

I even said during the movie that I’m gonna start calling the baroness baroness priestly Bc of how similar the two characters were. For the people who are whining about how they made Cruella “good”, in real life there’s no person that is completely “good” and no person that is completely “evil”. Estella is by no means a good person. She stole things, she vandalized many buildings, she assaulted the guards on the night of the first party and she had many thoughts of murder throughout the whole movie. Estella(Cruella) was by no means a hero or a “good person”. In short Cruella was not evil but she wasn’t a good person either.

As much as I like this movie.. I still.. will admit.... there isn't a good message here for the child brain. I mean this is a movie about Disney's incarnation of "cruel". So uh... exposing them to darker tones that will actually be important in life.. like death.. or importance and depression.. yeah. This movie, it's just a revenge story... so don't get any ideas for the kids.

But you can say the same thing with The Joker. They change the character and the origins of the Joker so much that it pretty much feels like a diferente character all together. But it HAD to be The Joker or the movie wouldn’t be made. Why is there this double standard?
@unc54
@unc54 3 жыл бұрын
@@Indigo_1001 Except Joker was a relatively low-budget film that was meant as a more personal take on the Joker but at the end of the day, the Joker was still evil. Cruella meanwhile is part of the Disney machine and is like the fiftieth time that Disney is trying to do the "these villains aren't so bad" and they chose a woman who makes coats out of dog skins.

@@unc54 no double standard. theres been plenty of remakes of the joker character because theres a multiverse, as well as said that theres 3 people that have been the joker now in the comics. I somehow rooted for the Joker though. I didnt want him to go bad and the movies story was how we created that villain. Which is similar to the comics. For Deville, theres only been one character and it's about a lady that can possibly the devils child that loves skinning animals for fashion...
